Can I book 2nd package if discount comes out for October. then cancel the 1st?

I have an AOA finding Nemo suite booked for late October. If they do come out with a room discount or free dining, whats the best way to rebook?
Wait on hold for a phone call?
Just book the discounted room and then cancel my original room? this seems the easiest?
From what I see I'm thinking announcement will be at the end of April for fall discounts?

wow, that's a good question! I'm sort of in the same boat as you! we've booked POFQ (which doesn't normally get a fall discount) but really want to stay at WL..which DOES get discounts. I don't want to wait too long to book but I don't want to lose my other room in case. Actually, fall discounts don't come out until July normally so it cuts things close. When are you going?

Last year we booked early and then called to change our resort which was YC, but it didn't have an availability so we changed to WL.

After a few days we were able to look up the information online and book there instead of over the phone.

This year we are booked at WL and will plan on calling and looking online, if a discount can be applied to our package for our dates.

I've been told from several sources that you can book a second package and then cancel your first. Personally I think it would be easier to do that than trying to modify an existing reservation and risking the loss of the original discounted package. The WDW website is notorious for glitching. I don't know how often I have been in the middle of booking or changing something and then getting the "someone ate this page" show up with Stitch. I am currently booked at Pop with a discount but if free dining is offered for my dates I plan to change to POR by making a second booking and then cancelling Pop.
