Can I bank 2005 pts then borrow 2006 pts for summer 2006?

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing...

I have an Oct UY and I need to bank my points by the end of March in order to get 100% of them into next year. I would like to make a trip down this summer, but I'm not sure if that's possible (DH's work schedule is up in the air at this point).

I'm wondering then, can I bank my 150 from 2005 then borrow any 2006 points I would need for a summer ressie?

We're planning a January 2007 trip, so it won't be a problem to use my 2005 year points before they expire (in Oct 2007, right?).

One more question, say we end of banking 150 points, giving us 300 points come Oct. When I make my ressie, will they take the point from the banked points first and then dip into 2006 points?

Yes. I just did this. I banked my 2005 points in Jan (I have an Aug UY) and then did a last-minute (unexpected) trip in Feb 2006 and borrowed my 2006 points to do it and am now taking another last-minute (unexpected) trip in May with DH (had to borrow 2006 points for that, too).

Yes. They use any available banked points first then use the current UY points last. At least this is what they did for me last year and what MS told me they do as standard policy.

Just remember, banked points cannot be borrowed or transferred.

Thanks so much for your reply! That sure makes planning so much easier. I didn't want to not bank 65 points or so "just in case" then run the risk of loosing them.

I'll go ahead and bank all 150 then borrow if we get a summer trip.

Your Use Year runs from Oct 1st to Sep 30th so those banked points will expire on Sep 30, 2007.
