Can I add another day to our tickets?

We have 5 day Magic Your Way base tickets already bought. Am I able to add on one more day for the discounted price, or will we have to pay full price?

I called up and added a 7th day to my 6-day tickets. It was only $42 extra (for 4 of us). The person said you could add that extra day at any time, even when you're already there. I didn't want to wait though, as I wanted to get my fastpasses reserved.

What exactly do you mean by "discounted price"?

If you add a day to your ticket, you pay the difference between a 5 day and 6 day tickets. You wouldn't pay the 1 day cost.

You will pay about $11 per ticket to add the extra day. You can do it in advance or while you are at Disney.

If you received any sort of discount on your ticket purchase, you'll want to use it once before upgrading.

Depends on when and where you bought them. If you have them in your hand, you will have to wait until you arrive to upgrade them. If you bought them prior to the Feb ticket increase or any other discounted rate, you will want to use them through the gate at least once prior to upgrading to avoid the increase. If you purchased them through Disney as part of a package, just call and add the day now, but again, if purchased prior to the increase, you will have to pay the new ticket price of the desired ticket.

We have them in hand, and bought them prior to the ticket increase.
So... basically we go to Magic Kingdom, and then try and upgrade them/add on the day there for the $40-50?

Yup.

Actually, go INTO MK using the tickets, first.

Then, you can do the upgrade at any time that day, or any other day,
up until as late as the same day that you use the last asset on those tickets.

There are Guest Relations inside and outside all of the parks.
Or, you can go to any ticket booth, as well.

Same price to do the upgrade, regardless of how many days you use before the upgrade.

Hey Robo, regarding the highlighted part: I've seen a lot of people now saying you need to have at least a single unused asset to be able to upgrade. They are saying this from "experience" and also the following quote from the WDW website.

If it is within 14 days of a Magic Your Way theme park ticket’s first use and the ticket has remaining admissions, you are able to upgrade the ticket.

Do you know if they changed policy?

thank you all very much weed mostly wanted to make sure that we could just upgrade to the 6 day ticket for the extra 40-50 dollars instead of having to spend an extra almost 400 for 1 day

I think it comes down to the definition of "remaining admissions." As long as the day isn't over, you still have valid admission. The CMs at Guest Services told me the same thing Robo says; you can upgrade on your last day.

That was my take also. However, the people I was discussing it with insisted that guest services would NOT allow them to upgrade.

I'm not a bit surprised when there are CM errors and guests (not knowing any different) just accept the errors as fact and go on their way.

There was a post this week from a DISer convinced that Disney now back-dates APs Anniversary Dates to the date that an original ticket was PURCHASED if that ticket was upgraded to an AP.

It's one of the reasons to ask the questions HERE... due to the overwhelming number of
guests and CMs who can openly respond, and not just take the word of one or two isolated CMs at WDW or (worse yet) on the phone.

AND, while we're on this subject...
Guests staying at a WDW resort (and still at WDW) have the full 14 days following a ticket's first use to upgrade, even if the ticket was "all used up" days prior.
This is due to the tickets being "connected to" a guest via the Disney computers.

AND...
with the advent of MDE and MagicBands, etc. it MIGHT BE possible that the previous limitation of
not being able to upgrade an "all used up" ticket following the day that the last asset
was used may not be relevant anymore, IF the guest has his tickets connected to him via MDE... very similar to the WDW resort guests.

More:

The "won't upgrade a used-up ticket" rule is very new (about 3 years old) and was implemented specifically to curtail unlawful ticket buyers/resellers from (illegally) buying used up tickets from guests after their WDW trips, then the resellers would (illegally) "add days" to those tickets and sell them to /unsuspecting or unwise arriving WDW guests.

The rule was not designed to stop guests from extending their stay.

I had the same issue, with having a 6 day base (and had already picked my FP+), and wanting to add a 7th day. I was told on the phone, they would have to cancel my 6 day purchase, and I'd purchase a 7 day. I asked about my FP+ choices, and was told if I updated my tickets on MDE before midnight, I would keep them. I didn't want to risk it (have A&E FP) so decided to upgrade once we arrive, as they could then simply add a day. But the day we arrive is right before PoC gets shut down for refurb so wanted the FP+. Anyone know how reliable it is to keep the FP+ choices by cancelling/repurchasing the tickets?

Don't do it.
If there's a glitch, and your FP+ choices are lost, they CANNOT be put back.

If you go to PotC within the first 1-2 hours in the morning, you won't need a FP.

I just wanted to add that I have personally added a day to our tickets the day after all of our days were used. We had 7 day PH's and were going to go to US the last two days of our trip. We used our 7 days and then on the 8th day we were going to US but it stormed all morning, when the rain finally finished we went to a ticket window and they added the 8th day to all of our tickets and we went back to MK instead.

Good info!

Were your tickets part of a WDW Resort Package, or were they simply purchased separately?
Are you a Florida resident?
Was this after the introduction of MyMagic+ (MagicBands and MyDisneyExperience?)

You can see even by my questions that there can be many and various situations that can impact the "rules."

Although, sometimes a ticket CM can just offer a bit of "Pixie Dust" to help a guest.
