Can I add a park day and will it mess up my other Fps?

Our MYW package is already paid in full and we have 6 days of tickets. We were not planning to head to the parks on arrival day but todaY scored a BOG dinner reservation (thanks to a DISer and the Dec cancellation thread!) which is causing us to change our plans. :yay:

Can we add a park day after our package is paid off? And if so, will adding a park day mess up the FPs we have already booked? I am worried to risk it!! :worried: And what would the approximate cost be to add a 7th day?

Thank you!

Yes you can, no it SHOLDN'T, and $10.65 per person.

Congrats on getting that ADR - should be a great way to kick off your trip! It didn't mess up my existing FPs when I did this, but I won't be held accountable for when MyDisneyExperience does or does not work properly ;)

From what I understand your FP+ is tied to your resort reservation...not your park tickets.

No, your FP's are tied to your park tickets, have nothing to do with your reservations, and I would be very careful about changing them ahead of time. I just went through this and was strongly advised by several in IT not to mess with it. You can't just "add" a day anymore. To do so requires them canceling your current tickets, refunding you, then reissuing new tickets, then relinking to your MDE. If for some reason those new tickets don't get relinked properly by midnight the day of the change then all of your FP's will be gone. And yes it has happened more than a few times. They can try and fix it but if its over a holiday they'll be nothing to fix it with.

Here's what you do, when you get down there just make sure and go to GS's at any park while you still have at least one day left on your passes and they can add it for you. It will be the same price too. It is much easier once you're on premise for them to do this than on the phone ahead of time.

You can risk it if you want to but make darn sure you let IT/Tickets do it and not a normal cast member. The key is to hold the canceled tickets in suspension until the other ones are fully booked. If the same IT CM does the complete process, and they must be done one at a time, then you're probably ok. Plan on it taking some time and you'll still have to go back to MDE and relink. If for some reason they do an update and it doesn't relink properly, which they are doing constantly, then you could be out of luck the next morning when you wake up:(

A lot of the horrible issues and stories concerning NexGen/FP+ come from people making changes, such as these, to their MDE.

I would want to be safe rather than sorry. We didn't know about the issues in June. We had celebrity show FP+s during SWW, which we would have been devastated to loose, when we updated our passes without a problem. We had passes cancelled and reissued at GS in HS and did not loose any FP+s during our trip. I didn't even know losing the FP+s were an option - guess we got lucky. It's your choice to risk it to add day now and get FP+s for your extra day now - or not:confused3

If you're adding a day at Magic Kingdom you will be able to have FP+ success on your additional day as well there because there are so many options.

There sure seems to be a variety of experiences with this. I intend to add a day and I am super nervous about it now. Seems like a big gamble.
Yikes

Thanks Mikie and dancing for your advice/ encouragement. It worked flawlessly and now we will be enjoying my son's birthday dinner in style :cake:

Maybe things have changed, or it depends on the CM you get, but I was able to call the regular phone line last night and add a day to my tickets. Nothing was cancelled/ reissued and I was able to add a new day of FPs on MDE immediately after my phone call. My existing FPs were not affected, which was a major relief. Just my experience, but wanted to update everyone on how it went.

Thank you for these posts. I have been considering adding a few days to our passes and was worried as well... I think I am going to risk it and will let others know what my experience is.

Top IT CM's are the ones who told me not to do it when point blanked asked on two different occasions. Then they gave me the ins and outs which are posted above. It can be done absolutely however it also can end up in disaster... You're gambling for sure attm...
