Can DVCers staying at BWV use the DTD boat from OKW?

You're kidding, right? You mean to tell me someone would add up to an hour onto their trip to a park to save the $6 it takes to park your vehicle at the WDW parks???
Hey....I'm with ya on this one mjstaceyuofm. But, considering the hassle of parking in the lot at the MK and having to take both the tram and monorail over to the MK vs having the OKW bus pull right up to the park might be tempting to some. So off-site folks may consider parking at DD and using OKW transportation to save the parking fee ? I, personally, have no problem having any DVC'er staying onsite use the OKW boat. OTOH, I could see a problem arising if alot of off-site people were doing this ?

So sorry if I offended any OKW people. I thought the boat was for anyone - no one asked us for any id's.
I'm not offended WDWLVR. I did the same with the Friendship boat while staying at OKW.

While taking the boat from DTD to OKW I have been for my resort ID and my DW and I were the only 2 there. I love the boat and have seen a line waiting for it at both ends in the evening and would understand if they ask people not staying at OKW to wait until there was room as it only takes 12 people. :smooth:

Hmmm, that is interesting that they would do this for one resort and not others. I have never seen them check ID on the friendship boats from the Epcot resorts and I know A LOT more non resort people park at the Epcot resorts and take the boats to Epcot and MGM then they do the ferry from OKW to DTD.

Does this boat only go back and forth from OKW to DD? Are there seperate boats that go from DD to Port Orleans and Dixie Landings? (I know, I know they are the same). I thought the boats looped OKW, DD, PO and DL. God forbid if a Port Orleans guest got on our OKW boat. Maybe we could keelhaul them!
DVCindy, please use Disney's boats as you please for your enjoyment!

The OKW boats only run between DD and OKW. Port Orleans has there own boat(much bigger) that runs to DD.

The boats that go between POR/POFQ and DD are separate from the boats that travel between OKW and DD.

The Friendship boats that travel between EPCOT and MGM (and stop at the resorts along the way) are part of the Disney Transportation system. Any resort guest or off site guest with a multi-day ticket may use them, just as they may use the buses that go between parks.

FWIW, I believe all of the resorts (including DVC resorts) contribute $$ to the transportation system - at the very least, they contribute funds to support the resort - park routes. Believe I saw something to that effect in the annual budget information we all receive at the end of the year.

I think it would be a service to all for someone to call, or several someones to call, OKW CM's to get the official word.

I just got off the phone with Katie at the OKW front desk. After admitting to being a disney freek on my computer at 10pm and explaining the great debate....following a little chuckle:p over the reason for my question the answer is............

The boat is open to all Disney guests (as is the POR one). It is considered part of Disney transportation like anything else.

I guess if I'm a real geek, I'll call and see if I get the same answer tomorrow:smooth:

Hope this helps

Wow - this is quite a debate !

Thanks to all who replied to help me sort this out.

InstImpres: After reading through all these replies, I had decided to do the very same thing tomorrow AM - you beat me to the phone call ! Thank you for taking the time to do that !

I'll be the computer geek tomorrow AM and call to see if I get the same answer you did ! :p

Thanks DVCindy, than I won't call again.

I'm just wondering, I see you are from NJ, are we just more vocal in this state than others.;)

Just got off the phone with John at OKW front desk. I asked him my question and he said it would not be a problem to use the DTD boat . I feel comfortable using the boat now ... thanks again for all your input ;) !

InstImpres - LOL .... I think most people think we are ! :p

Be sure to look for the Osprey nests in the stand of trees on the left just past the Treehouses on the way to DD. There are baby birds in the nests now and you can occasionally see a parent Osprey delivering a squirrel or rabbit for dinner!

You may also have a chance to see river otter playing in the canal.

Enjoy the ride!!! :)
