Can DVC Members take advantage of the free meal promotion?

The point of FD is to get people to buy packages from Disney. Disney wants to get infrequent visitors to pay for rooms and tix and stuff, and they're willing to sweeten the deal to get all that other money.

If you already have points, you're going to use them without incentive to do so. If you don't, that's still a win for Disney because you'll lose them.

DVC owners are far more likely to have annual passes, discounted at that.

DVC owners are far more likely to be frequent guests who won't feel the need to splurge on "stuff" like mouse ears, etc.

If you got FD too, there'd be no incentive to spend any new money at Disney, at all.

Yes, you can overpay for subpar hotel rooms and believe "I got a good deal because the word free was included" LOL!

Seriously, there is nothing "Free" about that deal and the hotel rack rate prices are out of control. I checked for a weekend in October and DIsney wants $510 a night for the Beach Club. LOL!

OP, before you shell out cash to book a room and tickets to get free dining, be sure you compare it to the 30% off promotion. Depending on how much your family eats and whether you already have tickets, you might find getting 30% off rack rate for a cash room and buying your own food is a better deal, particularly if you are booking a deluxe resort.

I haven't done the math but I suspect the best deal of all would be to book a DVC resort room on points and buy your own food.

I stayed at BWV studio last November during free dining. My 3 choices were:

1. Pay $438 a night and buy a 2 day ticket and get "free dining"
2. Pay $285 a night with an AP discount, no ticket needed since I had an AP and pay for dining.
3. Waitlist DVC, 15 points per night and pay for dining.

I started with #2, my waitlist (and stalking the online website) came through so I ended up with #3.

So members still have options.
