Our two love it outside. Even now when it is -2 F with substantial wind. They have a some cold weather breed in each of them, but Q has the double layer super thick fur. Neither feel cold when I check on them. Not their bellys or the pads of their feet. Even their wet noses are not too cold!

But there are -30 Degree F wind chills outside can they get frostbite on their noses or maybe the inside of the ear?

They can get frostbite just like we can. But it sounds like your dogs are well protected. I'd just keep an eye on them. I've got one that loves it too, and another that sticks her toe out the door and runs and hides in the living room.

I just read an article yesterday in my local newspaper about a dog that got frostbite so yes it is possible.

HeHe..what kind of dogs do you have ? My beagle if it's cold out will run out the doggie door and pee and run straight back in the house, she won't even stop to look for that chipmunk that drives her crazy.

It is bunnys first with fred. It is so funny to see him checking all the good bunny spots while jumping up and down while doing the "I have to go" dance.

and the doggy door is open so they can get in at anytime.
thanks for the replies.

My lab mix likes to be out in the winter, but she BARKS at everything in sight and can't relax at all. When it's summer, she'll just chill and lie down on the porch and watch things go by, but the cold makes her hyper.

A vet actually warned us to take precautions with our Aussie's injured foot so she doesn't get frostbitten and lose anymore of it. She wears a boot on that foot when it is cold out.

Yes dogs can get frostbite and hypothermia and in -30 degree weather, keep them in most of the time. Mine is out for 10-15 evry hour or two to "take care of business" but that's it when it is extremely cold. He's a Springer Spaniel, so a hunting breed and built more for outdoors with a double coat, thick foot pads etc. But -30 is darn cold, no matter how thick your fur is!!!!!!!
