I am 6' and 250 lbs, can I fit on the matterhorn, do plump people ever get on this. I will be traveling alone so? Tia. I heard the seats are uncomfortable.

Actually I think those seats are pretty wide. Just request that you sit alone (party of 1) and then no one will sit in your lap in front of you. You will be fine!

I haven't been on since the rehab, but from what I've heard it's the same vehicles. You'll be fine. It would be a close fit if you had someone riding with you, mostly because of your height, not weight. But since you're riding alone, it won't be a problem.

Thanks so much for the quick reply, you both are the best. Anyhow, matterhorn, please tell me the truth. Is it really scary the ride. I am a chicken. But really want to try it, since I am there.

Also, I feel so ackward going to the parks alone. My first time to any theme park alone. But my husband cannot come he will be at a convention. My question, do other people take solo trips to the parks?

Lots of people take solo trips, as a matter of fact, people plan them on purpose and look forward to them! I think it would be kinda nice to do what I want when I wanted, but at the same time, I don't really like to be alone. I don't go to eat alone or movies alone, so I don't know that I could! But people make friends and strike up conversations with others and you will be fine!!

It is really not THAT scary. The reason it is known as scary mostly is for kids because they think the snowman is scary. And he is :rotfl: but I doubt that will afffect you!! Is your husband going to join you at night?

We will be there it looks around the same time from your countdown? Does that put you at the end of April? I am there the 26-30, so if you don't mind hanging with me and the kiddos, we could meet up for a bite or a few rides. Let me know, but you should definitely not skip Matterhorn!!

Andrea

I love going solo. Just did 3 days solo in November. It's so nice to just be able to ride when you want to ride, eat when you want to eat, sit when you want to sit, etc. The only time I felt self conscious was when standing in line to take a pic with Capt Jack. Me, a grown woman in line with all these youngsters. But I wanted a pic with my Capt!!!

As for scariness of the ride, sorry, can't help, I'm a thrill ride junkie! In my opinion Matterhorn is quite tame.

I dont think its scary but I have boycotted that ride because every time I go on it I get thrown around and bruised..just beaten to death..my back kills me when I get off of it...so Im over it!

Say it isn't so!!! :lmao:
I was planning on meeting you for a ride on my namesake in February!!!

Andrea, thank you very much for the invite! I hate being alone too. I only did a movie once alone, and even that i felt kind of ackward. But then again, thinking about doing everything, and when I want is an added bonus! I will be visiting, the 19th,and 20th. I could push it to the 20th and 21st! But, was thinking to go to Disneyland on thursday the 19th. Thinking it would be a little less crowded on a thursday than that friday.

Got2, I went on the hulk, and dueling dragons, the mummy. But, it is something about thinking of a freefalling bobsled. That has made me a little chickenish about matterhorn. But, I will try it! Thanks again everyone for the encouragement, and to you Andrea for the invite. So, sorry our dates dont match up.

And, no, my husband will only be able to go to universal for a half day the day we arrive.

I wouldn't say it's really freefalling as it is still on coaster tracks and runs like a regular coaster. You will be fine! Sorry we are just going to miss you by a few days, but have a great time and let us know if you need anything else. I think you are going to love DL and personally think I'd definitely rather do a solo trip there than WDW!

Andrea

Oh and yes, I would definitely go Thursday if you have the choice!

Well I must say that the matterhorn is my 16 year old sisters favorite ride. She first went on it when she was 8 and since then it has been her obsession. The last trip we went on together, the only ride she was interested in was the matterhorn. If I suggested another ride she would begrudgingly go on it with me but after that it was straight back to the matterhorn.
I don't find the matterhorn scary at all! It hurts though. I don't really care for the ride because I do get tossed around quite a bit and it goes so fast that I barely notice the snowman, although I heard the right line you see the snowman twice. My sister always makes me go in the left line because the ride is a little longer she says. Anyway, I doubt you'd be scared but everyone must do the matterhorn at least once.

Matterhorn isnt bad at all. My 4 year old doesnt like the snow monster and my 8 year old complains that it's too bumpy, but other then that they both ride it. Do you ride the other coasters, like big thunder and space mountain?

When I worked at WDW I was a little embarrassed to ride alone at first. Then I started noticing A LOT of people doing this and they weren't just CM's visiting the parks on their days off either. Now I never feel funny riding alone. Last year I snuck in a day at DL by myself when I went to Long Beach for a convention with my mom. She had classes all day and so I suggested we part ways and I went to DL. Not only did I have fun riding every ride I wanted but I got to stroll through the shops.......:yay: It was fun.

You'll have a great time!

I am 6' and have no problem riding it.There is still plenty of room for my legs even riding with one of of my kids. It'll will be ok.And it isn't scarey either.Like someone said it hurts your sides and legs banging side to side.My DD5 even likes it except the snowman she says.

That's my 7 year olds favorite ride , my nephew and his girlfriend are both pretty big , tall and weight wise and they both fit. You'll love it!

My boyfriend is 6'3" and I'm 5'10" and sat between his legs in the seat. If we can both fit I'm sure you can! I agree matterhorn is pretty tame.

Just to echo what everyone else has said...the ride is fairly tame, but somewhat jerky. Fun, though. And you will fit. There is plenty of room. And I go by myself all the time. We live local and stay for 2-4 nights at a time. I usually take a vacation day and go by myself on a Friday and/or Monday and DH will come for Fri night and Sat/Sun, not missing any work. So some days we are a party of two and some days a party of one:flower3: . I have a blast by myself, but do look forward to DH or DD joining me. Have a great time!:yay:

Hello everyone,
I just got off from work about 40 minutes ago. Took a quick shower, put on my pj's. And came running to the Disboards. I love the Disboards. Just because of all the friendly, people I learn from, and get to correspond with. I must say you all are so kind, and thoughtful to have replied.Plus, you all are so encouraging! Thank you again so much. I so much appreciate it.

One more question, are there any steep hills on the matterhorn??

Only the first part of the track, where you're in the dark and going straight up through the center of the mountain! ;) You'll do fine.

Last Thanksgiving I went with my mom and and kids. I weighed 320 lbs and am 5' 6''. I fit fine, and had my youngest, Albert (ds5) sitting in front of me. HTH!
