Can anyone tell me anything about Orange Lake?

We have been offered a week from a friend and trying to decide between here and Vistana.

We stayed here a couple years ago and thought it was wonderful. We were in the North Village and the unit was practically brand new.

The resort, however, is massive. Depending on where your unit is located, you might have to drive to the pool areas.

We found it to be an easy commute to Disney and would stay here again in a heartbeat if we could get a good deal.

Last time we went was through SkyAuction for $260 a week for a 2 bedroom.

Never stayed at Vistana Resort...just Vistana Villages which was also very nice.

We've stayed at both and like the Vistana Resort much better. OL is huge, you need to get in your car to go to the pool. We didn't like the location on 192 and found the resort and our room dirty. The VR is much smaller and more centrally located. Some of the units are brand new, some old. If you like golf, then maybe OL would be okay.

We've enjoyed both of these resorts, OLCC 3 times and Vistana Resorts twice. Both resorts are on the large side for the Orlando area (they may well be the two largest resorts in the area). While we've driven from our villa to a pool area a couple of times we also don't hesitate to walk the resort either. My wife and I have enjoyed walking the entire resort many times, sometimes just to talk a long walk and sometimes with a pool destination in mind. There are many, many things to do at either of these resorts.
The only current drawback that I can think of at OLCC is that the main clubhouse is currently under refurbishment and the check-in/check-out area has been relocated to a much smaller facility. While I'd guess that that translates to having check-in and check-out potentially taking longer than usual, that's just speculation on my part.
