SIL is letting us use one of their weeks & arrangements will be through II. There are about 50 choices & I know a few I've seen look popular but can anyone give a recommendation for one?

Liki Tiki looks fun for the kids - is it ok? Are some more points to exchange than others? I don't want to create issues for them & we are paying all transfer fees. We have 3 kids, will have a rental car & plan to spend a day or two at the resort.

-if this is in the wrong spot, please move. Thanks for any advice!!

I noticed that you asked if some resorts require more points than others, so what are you trading with Wyndham points or some other points system. I trade with Wyndham points and Orlando is generally an easy area to get. For a 2 BR at Liki Tiki 77k points would probably be the max. The Marriots might require more points depending on season.

I've never been to Liki Tiki, but Marriot Horizens is also a great place for kids. I traded into an Aug week 1BR there for 63k points. This would be my first choice.

I'd go for location and quality.

I'd suggest Marriott's Grande Vista, Horizons by Marriott, Marriott's Cypress Harbour or Sheraton Vistana Villages as top choices, then maybe Cypress Pointe Resort (not the Grande Villas phase) or Sheraton Vistana Resort (a nice resort but a mixed bag of various resort sections with different Owners' Associations that are in various conditions - some sections are in much better condition than others). These resorts are all quite nice (the Marriotts especially so, IMO) and you should be happy with any of them, but you might be a little cautious of Vistana Resorts if some of the others show up as available for your dates.

With kids Marriott horizons is the best. We have also stayed at cypress harbor, grande vista, and cypress pointe. They were all good. Check out www.tug2.net. It's a timeshare forum like this one and has reviews.

I am partial to Grande Vista. We have DD8 and she loves it there is always something to do. It is really close to SW & DC and about equal distance to MK & US/IOA.

if your kids are little
Horizons

if older
Marriott's Cypress Harbour

that say these can be gone - so then
Cypress Pointe - it is being rehab
Sheraton Vistana Resort - it is being rehab

Hi, thanks for the responses! I don't really know if there are points involved, just checking to see if there are cheaper options than others I guess. They just told us to get several choices & they'll hook us up. We used one of their weeks in 04 & without really looking at them, got Westgate Vaca Villas. They got really mixed reviews so I was nervous but we had a great stay there.

We're just happy to have space & would love 3 bedrooms if we can. I'll keep those options at the top of our list. This is a budget trip & we're excited to stay anywhere that's budget friendly.

Horizon by Marriott
Marriott's Cypress Harbour and
Sheraton Vistana Resort

all only have 2 bedrooms

Cypress Pointe does have 3-bedroom but it sleeps 8 - not the 12 that a normal 3-bedroom does.

for 3-bedroom
Marriott's Grande Vista
Marriott's Imperial Palms

What 3 bedrooms sleep 12? Maybe 10 if there is a second sofa bed in a 1 br lockoff but 12?

would assume the Marriott since DVC does.

dvc has king in the master (2), two other bedrooms with 2 queens each ( so 4 *2 =8) plus queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom - so total 12.

grand beach has 3 bedrooms

lighthouse Key resort and spa - looks nice - have not stayed here so don't know for real.

Those are not the norm - in fact they sound very odd - and hardly a way we'd want to try to squeeze 12 into a timeshare. There are a few 4 bedroom units at some resorts and Westgate has the loft units that can do 10 or 12 but oin general a 3 bedroom is going to sleep 8 - 6 privately.

never stay at Westgate - there sale people are the worst. they will constantly bother you.

well not a fan of 12 in one unit in the first place. but lots of DVc members and non-members love these things.

everyone has different taste.

hate that Westgate has only silly double beds in their second bedroom.

110% agree! Avoid anything that has Westgate operation attached to it if you can. Just using them as an example of a resort group that does offer a usable 12 guest, 3 bedroom unit.
