Can anyone recommend a sleep position for an injured elbow?

I have no idea how my elbow was injured or why it hurts other than I just have RA so random things hurt and make me cry for unknown lengths of time. It is possible it hurts because I am using the Boma mop a lot for the puppy, so using my trigger finger in a lightweight mop is causing agony, not a thing that should cause injury but here I am 🙃 Excruciating pain has been waking me up in the middle of the night for months. I called the DR office and they suggested a wrap but it feels like a tourniquet and I really don't want to go to the Dr early for this, . I get RA carpal tunnel and sleeping with my arms above my head helps but so far I am finding no good way to sleep with this. I think it is the same muscle tendon combo from Tennis Elbow, just so much ouch.

Hi LuvOrlando,
My mother sometimes gets elbow injuries and what my mom does is she puts some pain relieving cream and a cream you could look for is the Walmart Equate Pain Reliever Cream and it comes in a roll-on type of tube and you just roll it on your injured elbow and it works. You could also try placing a small pillow on your arm but put the pillow so it's not touching your injured elbow when you sleep. I know this because my mom gets elbow injuries sometimes and these things help her. You can also take Advil if the pain gets worse and it will calm down the pain
Hope this helps you

Wait, you have a puppy? 😁 I didn’t know! Pictures, please!

Have you tried Voltaren cream at bedtime, then elevating your elbow on a pillow? i would think you’d not want to lay completely flat, but maybe propped up a bit on a couple of pillows so you’re in a semi-sitting position, then put your elbow up on a pillow or two. See if that’s comfortable. Definitely talk to your doctor about pain management. Ask about the Voltaren. i don’t think a wrap with an ice pack to start the night is a bad idea. And you could also try lidocaine patches. I’ve seen people do both the Voltaren and the lidocaine, but keep them about an hour apart, cream first. Speak to your pharmacist about that though. Good luck, I hope you can get some relief!
