Hi all. We are going to see Mary Poppins in NYC and taking the kids to the 7PM show. Long story short we are not familiar with the area and have no idea where to park or have dinner before the show .

Any advice would be much appreciated :thumbsup2

John's Pizzeria

don't let the 'fanciness' fool you - it's really quite casual and food is yummy!
Check out the prices, very reasonable. Another DISer recommended this and it was great!

Here's a great map that gives you up to date pricing on local garages in that area.

Prices vary widely so it's good to have a few good ones picked in advance.

On restaurants my favorite is

It's right on 46th street. a short walk from your theater. And they simple pasta for the kids- they were very willing to work with us as far as the kids were concerned. And we always love our meals here - and it's reasonable for nyc standards.

If you want more casual- a good bbq (by ny standards not southern standards)

We really enjoyed Angus McIndoe. They take reservations, check their website. I thought they had a very nice jr menu.
John's Pizza is good, good pizza if that is what you are looking for
I thought Virgil's was OK.
www.menupages.com and look in the west 40's

Check ICON parking for a lot nearby

Across the street from the theater is Dallas BBQ...cheap but great BBQ chicken and burgers. And there's a Dave and Busters a few doors down from the theater....burgers, etc and game for the kids to play.

Across Times Sq is ESPN zone and Hard Rock Cafe is around the corner (if you've never been to one of those)

Just wanted to send a big thank you!! All the advice was great and we wound up eating at Angus McIndoe. We were pleasantly surprised. We ate at around 5:00 and the first floor was empty other than one other table. At which Tony Shaloub was sitting. I did not recognize him but DH did and I guess he is some kind of star. Pretty cool! The food was better than i expected and service friendly and quick. We would eat there again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for making this birthday so much more wonderful and memorable. It was planned out and went so well thanks to you all! We also saved $10 on parking with the website you mention. I so appreciate the advice :goodvibes

Mary Poppins was really good too. My son who is 8 was really mesmerized by it! I didn't think anything other than video games would keep his attention so this was a nice surprise too!

thanks again it was a great day thanks to you all!

Angus has really good food and there's always someone in there!

Tony Shalhoub (the guy from Monk) is starring in Lend Me Tenor (which was excellent..saw it last weekend) right now over on 45th..2 mins from Angus'
