We take the train into South Station and I am trying to figure out my way around that area. We usually just go to The Children's Museum (went there on friday and they are in the middle of a big rehab) so that is an easy walk over. But now that the kids are older I want to start going to different places.

How do I get to Faneuil Hall from South Station?? I know from there I can get to the waterfront and the harbor cruises. I am also looking on how to get to the common.

Years and years (and years) ago I spent a lot of time in Boston but I took the T to park Street and I knew my way around from there. I am having some trouble getting my bearings from south station.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Hi, no advice on Boston, but wondering how you and your dad made out? I posted asking, but I guess you never saw it.

From South Station just walk along Atlantic Avenue until you get to Fanueil Hall. About a mile. The acquarium is across the street.

To get to the common just take any street from Atlantic Avenue East to the COMmon.

I agree that the Big Dig and all it's accompanying construction has made walking through some parts of the city pretty dicey. I'd personally stay on the Red Lie past South Station, and get off at Park St, or even switch lines and go up to Gov't Center, then just go across to Fanueil Hall, and the waterfront.

Good Luck!!!!

marlasmom - can you actually WALK on Atlantic Ave? It was tough to see when we were there on friday inbetween all the RAIN - is it passable?

pea-n-me - thanks for the link to the map!

Debster - I am trying to stay away from the T and do mostly walking. The train takes us right to South Station.

Where would we end up if we got off the train at Back Bay? I am trying to picture the stop but I can't....

LuvWinnie - Thanks for asking! My Dad & I are doing ok for now! I had the laparoscopy and the ablation done just over 2 weeks ago and I go tomorrow for my follow-up. I was sore for a while but not too bad. I hope my dr. gives me the ok to start exercising again as I feel like a slug!

My Dad was in the hospital for 4 nights and is now home. It has been slow going for him and he really shows his age now - he will be 86 on the 4th of July. He walks with a cane now and just the other day he drove for the first time in over a month. The dr. decided against the pacemaker for now and they are trying to regulate his meds. Some days he is a bit dizzy, but not as bad as before. Thanks again for asking. I didn't mean to ignore you! :)
