I called this morning to make PS for Mama Melrose on June 19. The latest dinner seating was at 4:50!! Now I know they will be serving dinner later than 5:00. Based on past park hours, MGM should be open until around 10:00. So, what is up with the 4:50? I only wanted 6:15 and that isn't much later. Any ideas on what is going on?

did you ask if the resturant was reserved for a huge party or something?

sounds strange, you might call back and get a different answer from another cm...

unless they are booked for the night already? wow.
seems strange to me.

No, they weren't booked for the night. The CM said the latest dinner seating for that restaurant was 5:00. I think I'll just keep calling. Maybe when park hours are released they will extend the PS times. Who knows???

This happened to us last August, and from reading the boards its happened to quite a few others here too. We called back a few times and were finally able to get a later dining time about 3 weeks before the trip. I guess the theory is they want to fill the non peak times first, then they open up later times. Its not really fair to those of us who plan ahead and call promptly at 90 days out to get our desired time, but keep trying and something should open up for you. Good Luck!

Thanks, I do remember reading several posts about this same topic. I'll just keep trying.

I don't think they're trying to fill earlier slots first. I think they're just avoiding the headache for them and heartache for guests of filling later slots only to find out the park is closing earlier when final hours are decided.

I had this situation for our trip later this week. I just took the latest slot available at 90 days out and called aweek or so again and got a later PS time.

Good luck!

This has happened to me the past two days. Yesterday I called at 8:15 (90 days out) for dinner at Crystal Palace. The latest I could get was 4:30. This was a party of 9 so I figured that had something to do with it. This morning I called at 7:15 for the FDP at Hollywood and Vine (again 90 days out). It was only for the 5 of us so I was pretty confident in getting close to the time I wanted (6:15). Again, the latest I could get was 4:30! I asked the CM how that could be and she said that they only block off early times for the FDP. Out of curiosity, I asked her if I just wanted to book H&V without the FDP, what time could I get. She said the last seating for the restaurant was 6:00. Then she said that MGM must be closing early that night. So I think this supports the theory that was offered here that until the official hours are posted, they assume that all parks will close early and the PS times will reflect that. I plan to call back once the June hours are released.

This has also happened to us during our last 2 trips when I called far ahead. But found out as the time got closer, the later times openned up. We had no problem changing our earlier times after we checked in. We no longer call and make PS too early anymore (except character meals and shows).

Im just guessing but IMHO later ressies are probably not being released until all the possible FDP people make PS's ...because, now, they need to pre-pay for this event. :D

I made PS's for FDP for 5/20 and got a 3:45 seating @ the BD, which I took...but absolutely plan on calling when it gets closer, or, when I arrive to try and get a later PS. ;)

I, too, made PS for FDP at BD in late May. I took a 4:15 dinner time. We really don't eat near that early at home, so I plan to try and get it switched to a later time slot. Thanks for reminding me!!

I called and made FDP PS's last week for Mama Melrose's and had to give my credit card number but it was not a pre-pay. They said that this just holds the spot and I would actually pay for the package at the restaraunt. And, I too have a 4:20 PS but that works good for us because that is our arrival day and it will be our big meal of the day.

I also was given a 4:50 time for Sci-Fi. Is this one of the FDP choices? I guess I will keep trying for a better time.
