I am aware of the price increases going into effect tomorrow. I am also aware that non-expiring tickets WILL be ending in the not so distant future. I know it was THOUGHT that these two events would probably coincide, but can anyone CONFIRM that non-expiring tickets will cease as of tomorrow?
We often do a few short trips a year, MNSSHP/F&W, Christmas events, maybe a SWW, and the non-expiring tickets save a TON on these long weekend type trips. We have done a lot of Disney in the past 8-10 years and always seek out the best ticket options at that time. Many years we have had APs but those prices became too high at a time where we were starting to take shorter trips (in general). The past 2-3years we have spent a lot of time at DL, and had APs there. We are from Massachusetts so we are lucky to be only a less than 3hr flight from WDW and frequently see "bargain" (affordable) airfares. This makes 3-6 days trips for our Disney fix realistic and doable. Sometimes we use a "party ticket" one day , water park another, and only use a single day from our non-exp's . So we can make them stretch for several mini vacas. I'm not sure what this will mean in the future for our Disney travels. Honestly I'm not sure I can justify the high cost of tickets for 3dys or less a couple of times a year. APs are also quite expensive, and you Need to KNOW for sure that you will get your full use of them in advance.
Ideally, I would LOVE to stock up on a few sets of non-exp's for my three family members, but that expense right now is enough to make me break out in a cold sweat and cry....it's been a long cold expensive winter here in the NorthEast, and that's a lot of money to put out. In the end I know it is worth it, but I was really hoping to have a couple/few more months to save for it. The cost increase is manageable (although chronicling the price increase over 10 years is flabbergasting), but the disappearance of non Exp's may eliminate our yearly multiple trips to WDW. Honestly I would probably only go once every few years...and I LOVE DISNEY!!!
