Having normally been an October traveller we are considering planning our next trip for the end of August 2010.

During out stay this past October everyone was comparing the crowds to the beginning of August, ie very busy, and saying that the last 2 weeks of August were normally slower than what we experienced in October. :confused3

I have always been put off with even thinking of going in August but has any one stayed during both periods to give me an idea which, in your opinion, seems the most quiet.

Our dates in the past are usually the 10th October for 3 weeks and we are thinking of staying from the 13th August 4th September.

Thanks Guys :thumbsup2

I've stayed at both times of year. Last year we were there 22/8 until 04/09 and in October we were there 08/10 until 06/11.

It was busier in August before the american bank holiday, but the week after, including bank holiday Monday itself, it was very slow. It was the same as in October.

Of the two holiday periods, I would prefer October, as the heat is less and no rain to be had.

The only busy times I noticed in October were at weekends, when the locals came out to play.

Same as above we have been both times, Last August we were there 1st-25th then took a last minute trip in Oct for Half term.
No question for me Oct, I love Halloween there. many prefer weather in Oct, can be too hot in August although we like it hot.
Oct has usually lower crowds but that can depend on offers like free dining from Disney. It has got busier in August with free dining. Hotels are usually a bit cheaper in Oct and Flights definitely are, Only cost us £240 this last October a bargain for a school hol.
Oct is OK for us for 7-9 days as DS has started his GCSE's so for our 3-4 week trips we have no choice but August, once he ends school we won't be going as much in August.

we have also been a few times in august and in october, i would say that october is the better time to go, its not as busy, its not as humid.
august even though your planning to maybe go near the end - its still quite busy as the free dining plans on and even though alot of usa kids have gone back to school it is still very busy. its far too hot and humid as well

You also meet great people in October, don't you Jeanette?:rotfl2:

I'm glad to read that October is better than August - we're August veterans but have also managed to book a trip for the last two weeks in October. I'm looking forward to lighter crowds and no humidity :thumbsup2

just wanted to add that we went in October 3 times and these are the dates:
23rd oct-6th nov
26th oct- 10th nov
last yr-7th oct-26th oct
the later dates were alot quieter than the beginning of October.

Hiya Netty

I recall us been there at the same time last year !!!

The strange thing I found in October and I dont know if you will agree was that the parks seemed busy, but the queues for the rides were fairly short.:confused3

With the exception of TSM we never queued any longer than say 10/15 mins for the rides, using Fastpasses made our wait times ever less.

I certainly loved the October weather :thumbsup2

I know I found a website somewhere before that compared the busyness of each park day by day - don't seem to be able to find it now - can anyone help? We are going 24 March til 4 April - 4 April is the Sat a week before Easter.

Thanks

yep it was quite busy! Epcot was totally full because of the food and wine festival, which now seems to go on longer and longer every year..:headache:
