Can anyone comment on the meal plan?

Hi everyone:

Doing Universal this year again for a couple of days in September...also getting in on Disney's Dining Deal...

Questions: have any of you done Universal's Dining Deal and if so, was it worth it to you?
What is the EARLIEST that one of the participating restaurants opens?

Was it all counter service?

Any tips or advice would be SO appreciated!

Is it pretty much burgers and fries or pizza? Are your choices at the included dining establishments limited? I haven't been in 15 years, but I remembered really loving Mel's onion rings. Would I be able to get those on this plan, or only the fries?

We were there in April. The lines at the participating restaurants were very long.

Thank you for your posts...I guess this is not a great deal for the four of us. No breakfast opportunity and the park closes at 5 & 6 pm on the days we are there...there are only so many burgers & fries you can eat between 11 am and 5 pm...ha. I don't think I would want to eat $20 worth during that time...
