Can an adult order off of the kids' menu?

I'm a pretty picky eater and I was wondering if it might be possible to order off the kids' menu at some of the sit-down restaurants. Have any of you tried this?

I had lap band surgery a while back and have a little card that says "Please allow this guest to order from the Kids menu, because he/she has had surgery that has made it impossible to eat more then 2/3 cup of food at a time.

I have only used it once and that was to get a kids price at a buffet. I don't order kids meals because usually they are full of fried, unhealthy foods. Now I buy one meal and share it with my three kids. (and there is always left overs)

I know a lot of places that don't allow you to do this. Like chili's and applebee's.

This past summer I ordered the kid's Monte Cristo (fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich) at the Blue Bayou. They charged the same price as a full adult meal but I got two sandwiches along with the fruit that they also serve to the kids. It was a bit pricey (around $18) but it totally satisfied the cravings that my then 7 month pregnant body was having.

My favorite kids meal is at the Plaza Inn. For about $7.00 you get a chicken leg, mashed potatoes & gravy, a biscut, apple sauce and a drink!

I have on several occasions. I just tell the server, "Yes, I am 10. I just look REALLY old for my age."

Most will let you order from the kids menu but like was said earlier will give you what they think is an "adult" portion and charge accordingly.

You are better off sticking to places that have food that you like from the adult menu.
