Question: With the Incredible Pass being SOOOOOOOO expensive, I'm looking for ways to save money. I'm thinking maybe purchasing DVC points (note, I sometimes rent points through one of the brokers, ). I've just started my research into becoming a DVC member, and realize there are many benefit differences between being a "direct" owner vs. a resale owner. So that being said, (and let me tell you I was surprised that resale DVC members don't get food or merchandise discounts)...can RESALE members buy the Sorcerer's Pass? It's almost $500 less than the Incredible Pass. Thanks for your thoughts.

Resale members that are not eligible for food/merchandise discounts are also not eligible to purchase the Sorcerer Pass.

Nope - Resale only members don’t qualify for Sorcerer Pass.

The other commenters have pointed out that Resale members do not qualify for the benefits such as buying the Sorcerer's pass, but I would also suggest that you don't spend $30-45k on DVC to save $500 in annual passes. If you're looking to spend less money at Disney, DVC really isn't the way to go (direct or resale). It can help increase the amount you get per dollar you spend (Deluxe resort stays at moderate prices when you amortize the cost per point across the life of the contract, getting 10-20% discounts at retail or certain food spots), but I would not say that DVC members save money at Disney World by being members.

You could always get the Disney Chase Card for discounts.....you not only get a lot of discounts (I can't recall all of them but it's roughly 10% off a lot of the dining and merchandise) but you also can earn disney dollars back.

Again, I don't recall everything but it's not a bad deal to use for your Disney trips/purchases.

Thanks all. I'm glad I asked. I do come down about 4 times a year and I figured I'd end up saving on what I spend on rooms by being DVC...and I thought the Sorcerer's pass would be icing on the cake. But, alas.....I'll probably just keep renting.

Keep watching for when DVC has specials - OKW a few months ago was around 130 to 150 (I can't remember but thought it was a great price) direct. I almost added on - not for the benefits but the price was that good.
