Can adults wear HP robes to park?

If you are a witch or wizard then OF COURSE you should wear your robes!!

They do sell them in adult sizes. I don't think anyone would mind if you wore them. I mean, if your "friend" wore them!!

My son, who loves "being" Ron and loves his robes, makes it about 15 minutes in them in Florida.


They sell alllll sorts of wizarding gear at Universal, and you can wear it all if you choose! The "stuff"-designers for Universal are pretty much printing their own money...and I'm not even talking about the gringott's exchange!


I think they keep it from being creepy (looking like you are a Team Member) because the TMs wear generic Hogwarts robes (that look like Slytherin until you see a Slytherin robe), and I don't think those are sold to the public. They also have the hats that I don't think are sold.

Yes, you can. They don't have a rule like Disney's "no costumes on anyone over 12," so robes and similar garb are fine. We always do and have never received anything but encouragement and positive comments from the TM. My partner did get a dirty look from fellow park-goers last time when, decked out in full Slytherin uniform, he got picked to select his wand at Ollivanders while their (unadorned and not-particularly-enthusiastic) kids didn't, but that was the only negative moment. IME it enhances the park experience because not only does it help with the feeling of being "in the world," but you get a lot more attention and interaction with TMs which is fun - they give you house points or lecture you to get to class or in other ways 'play' with you, which to me was awesome.

The heat is less awesome, so be careful. Black robes - poly or otherwise - in Florida heat...yeesh.

Ok I will make and bring my own, it just seems like so much fun even if it's just for some photos and a little socializing. Will use super light cotton or something! We will be there around Halloween so hoping the weather isn't the worst. I cannot wait to go....going in 2016 but got excited reading all about Diagon Alley. My daughter starts reading HP sometime later this year I hope she loves it as much as we do. I am sure I can't get my husband to a ear a robe but that's ok can double as my Halloween costume that year

We'll be going to DA the first week of December-- I've never been to Orlando in the Fall/Winter, do you think my husband and I will be fine wearing House sweaters/ties/robes? I want us to do that for at least the first day, because we are planning on spending 1 or 2 days entirely within the WWoHP (both parks).

Thanks for the info! I've seen some pictures of people wearing sweatshirts/coats/scarves in November and December, and some of t-shirts and shorts, so I think we'll have to pack a variety and play it by ear.

And not to be a creepy weirdo, but my eyes bugged out a bit when I noticed that not only are you from a neighboring town (I'm from Fishers), but you seem to be going to Universal the same time I am! (I'll be in Disney on 11/30 and 12/1, and Universal on Dec 2-4.)

Our weather in those months can be anyone's guess and the forecasts change regularly. Some years its cold and stormy and other years its nice and warm. Just make sure you check local forecasts over The Weather Channel or any of the national sites. Local people are much more reliable...but that's not saying a lot.

Pack for anything. Pack long underwear to keep you warm from the skin out. Pack gloves and scarves (though if you forget the scarves it's a great excuse to buy Hogwarts House scarves). Also pack shorts and bathing suits. And everything in between. Especially if anyone is of an extended size and it would be hard to find clothes for them.

December 2010, our first Orlando trip, freezing. Horrible cold snap. (apparently that year had STARTED with a similar situation, with it sleeting on the runners for the WDW marathon that year's January) Below freezing on our morning when DS succeeded in going on Flight of the Hippogriff 14 times in a row during Early Entrance.

As we were leaving Orlando on, I think, the 17th, it was a beautiful sunny day. We were leaving as the sun came out.



The official robes are really really nice. Be prepared to be tempted, even if you make awesome ones of your own. Just want you to be prepared mentally!

We'll be there the last week of August...

My 18yo daughter was looking forward to wearing her robes, but I've advised her not to bring her robes as I can't imagine they'll be comfortable in the heat. Not to mention, we have limited space for packing and she'll likely want to pick up a souvenir or two.

This thread is making me rethink that, a bit... but I'm still thinking it'll be way too hot! Her robes are voluminous black material lined with Ravenclaw blue.

It depends largely on where you're from and what weather you're used to. It gets coolish in winter - cool enough for sweaters, anyway, unless you're someone who 'runs warm.' People who are from warmer climates will walk around in parkas and, if you're like me and from a snowy place, you'll laugh at them and break out the shorts because it's 10 degrees back home and 65 in Orlando. But last time we went, it was early January and we definitely wore full garb (robes - ours are flannel, long-sleeve buttondowns, ties, grey slacks) and didn't roast. So I would take it all and make peace with the fact that you may be in shirtsleeves with the sweaters in your packs by noon...but you also may be in your sweaters all day and wanting robes by early evening.
