Can a TS meal be down graded to a CS?

Let's say that one day we just don't feel like sitting down for a long lengthy dinner. Can a table service meal be traded in for a counter service one? Or does that just get too complicated?

I think it can.....but I am sure there are ones here that know more about this than me. I just know that at the end of our last vacation we still had a couple of cs meals and used them for a bunch of snacks. I had no idea we could do that, the cashier happened to mention it at the time.

Some front desk (concierge) staff will do it for you; however, it can't be reverted back if you change your mind.

I know that you can downgrade a meal. I didn't know this until our last night at Pop Century this past June. We left with 2 full services meal on our plan and wasn't able to use these before we left. We could have used one for breakfast the day we left but my family are not huge breakfast eaters, give them Pop Tarts (that I brought from home) and they are happy.

We had one kids TS meal left on our departure day (daughter was not hungry one night and colored while we ate)...we were at captain cooks and I simply asked the person checking me out if it were possible to convert the credit to a CS kids meal...she was very happy to do so but warned that it could not be changed back to a TS once it had been converted...this process did a little while so if it were a busy time they may not be able to do so...however, i was told that you can have it done at your resort's main desk...that might be your best bet.

Yes, a TS credit can be used for a CS, but why would you want to? You lose quite a bit of value if it is for and adult.

Last year we were on the DDP and wanted to eat at Beaches and Cream for lunch. I thought, a CS credit for a hamburger, not a bad deal. As we were giving our order to the CM, she let us know that a hamburger would be a TS credit. I said no way, who would spend a TS credit for a hamburger? She replied, you would be surprised. It was then that I realized how much money Disney is making with the DDP. :)

There was a sign up at the POP food court when we were there during Free Dining (September 23- Oct 1) that stated TS credits could be exchanged for 2 CS meals and a snack. It was either that or 1 CS and 2 snacks. It was something like that anyway, because you couldn't find a TS anywhere unless you already had an ADR.

The way you've worded the question makes me think that perhaps you're under the impression that your credits have to be used daily; not the case. You could use all of your TS credits on one day if you really wanted to. So if you don't use a TS one day perhaps you use it the next or use two on one Signature meal. It isn't a daily use it or lose it proposition. :thumbsup2

I think something special was done during this time because it was so difficult to get an ADR. I'm sure someone is out there who could shed more light on this circumstance.

In our case we had one TS credit left on our departure day...instead of pay for one of our CS meals that we ate before we left I had them convert it to CS...it is MUCH better than simply loosing it.

As far as I know, they only offer that during free dining. We used it a lot!

No...it is offered other times as well...we did this in May of 2007...I think it just depends on the CM and how busy they are. At least an even exchange...now the exchange for 2 CS credits and a snack...that is NOT offered all of the time.

Thanks for all your replies. I have a three year-old who is a very light eater. He will often eat only breakfast and lunch. Maybe a few bites of dinner. There will probably be a few nights when he won't want a full TS dinner-maybe just sit and color while we eat. I didn't know what I would do at the end of our vacation if I had 3-4 children TS meals left. It would be great if we could trade them in for some snacks or something. It sounds like we should be able to do this. Thanks.

This makes sense for downgrading for a CS. The kids DDP price is so low...you have come out even on just a TS and a snack on the regular DDP and after a couple of TS and a snack on the deluxe. Hope you guys have a great trip!

We were on the dining plan this last week and asked at the hotel front desk and the dining reservation line and were told emphatically NO you cannot make the substitution. However, the concierge at our hotel said no problem and we were able to use our TS credits at the food court. We were told there that you can only do that if you are out of CS credits. As long as you have CS credits, you have to use those up first. We were down to our last evening, the kids were wiped out and our TS was at a restaurant that from POP Century would have been quite a trek. For us it was just easier to use TS credits and get the kids dinner at the food court. It's not as much value probably but then we did use a number of our TS credits for character meals and got quite a bit of value from it. For us it was a good trade.
