Can a PTR be therapeutic?YUP!!Addictive?**2/14-I'm home...**

Wendy-
I just noticed your location: Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. That's where I stayed when I went to Disneyland in 1988. I was 16 and went out to California with my friend to stay at her Aunt and Uncle at their house in Rancho Palos Verdes! It's a Small World after all :rolleyes1 .

That remindes me...when we were there we went to a "nightclub" for young Hollywood called Alfies Soda Pop Club. Does anyone from LA remember it?

I do not recall that "nightclub". Orange County and Los Angeles may as well be in different states. We rarely get out from behind the Orange Curtain

Small world!!! (Jordan just *loves* that phrase - not) My husband grew up there so he's always wanted to move back...

Can't say that I know Alfies...

:welcome: party:

I'd be more than happy to help you out...don't know about the NYC part...:)

Thanks for taking on the beast that has become my PTR. Don't feel obligated to read every single post. Although I do have to say that people on the DIS are very funny.

Thanks for the welcome. Your pre-tr is too funny! I've read through most of it. It took 2 days! Everyone on here is inspiring me to write my own pre-tr for my August trip. However, I better get on the ball. I have to make all of my ADRs in a couple of weeks and have no clue where!!!! HELP!

Hmmm any advice on where I should begin?

Ohhhhh. So many choices, so few meals.

It all depends on who's going, what their ages are, what their dining inclinations are like, if you have the MYW dining plan, etc.

But definitely get some ADRs in if you can - better to have them and cancel them, to have never made them at all. Or is that "better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all...?" I'm getting confused.

If you are going to develop an itinerary, that will play into your choices as well - you don't want to make a MK ADR on the day that you're at EPCOT all day, for example. So you can either make your ADRs first and schedule your itinerary around that, or vice versa. But the two should play nicely together in order to gain maximum enjoyment.

But there is a lot to factor into your choices, so I'm sure if you need help with that, Jordan can help you out (hee hee - don't you love the way I'm throwing you under the bus cuz?).

Enjoy!

I try to have a basic plan of what parks I'm doing on what days before I do ADRs.

Attention: there is a little known disease starting to surface on the Disney ships - officials are worried it may soon spread to WDW parks. It seems the victims spend so much time talking about LGMH on the DIS that they take on the appearance of said LGMH. Below is a frightening example:

Now THAT'S an idea. I'll try not to take Winkie on Kali
You could make her a little poncho...just please don't take her in the Bathroom! :scared1:

Okay. I'll be dancing w/ you....and there will be pix.

Promise?

Winkie doesn't know what she's in for.....;)

I can't wait to see her TR! :thumbsup2

I know. You should've seen me when I first saw it.

I'm glad everyone finds my high on life picture so ammusing!:rotfl: That picture was taken when the drugs were really getting to me. If you've read my report (shameless plug) then you know I was on drugs for half of my trip. I just felt the need to explain that I normally do not look deranged!

I can't wait to see where I'll get to visit. :rotfl2:

Jordan, I'd like to see a picture of what you looked like when you saw it!

I thought you looked beautiful - just Disneyfied!

Tammie,

Wendy and I had a little conversation about Winkie and the things we could do....we laughed hard for awhile....Winkers may end up suing us...;)

Thanks for the tips Wendy and Jordan! I need to get organized!

Since my 4 year old nephew is going and we're staying at the Poly, we're going to spend lots of time at the MK and Epcot. We'll have a rental car, so it'll be easy getting around.

I'm a little nervous about ME and the Disney bus system. We're not renting a car for our 1/16-1/20 trip and I'm hoping the transportation portion of the vacation doesn't drive me crazy!!! In NYC, while the wait for a bus or subway seems like an eternity, it really isnt'. I think my system may go into shock later this week.

How are the BCV? We're considering staying there next year for a grand gathering. Hmmm, we're also considering DVC. I'm not a fan of timeshares, but this one is becoming more and more tempting.

Jordan, did you enjoy the NY- Dallas game? I'm in shock that the Giants actually won.

Personally I think its faster transportation in WDW than here and I am on the subways and buses all the time. I have this NY mindset that everything takes an hour to get to and i tend to think like that in disney and am always early. I think having a car slows you down in disney, but thats just me!

:scared1: :scared1: As long as you keep it G, well ok a soft R , rating I'll be fine!;)

Quick question before I go back to reading (I'm page 69, in case you're interested ;)).

Is ESPN Club kid friendly? I know it's a Sports Bar, but does it have an area that is more of a restaurant? And where is it located exactly?

Thanks Oh Wise One :)

I'll answer this one first...Yes, ESPN is very kid friendly. They have a separate restaurant within the whole larger restaurant. They don't take reservations so it's first come first serve. Daytimes are much easier to get in than nights...Nights still aren't too bad.

It is in the Boardwalk Resort complex. If you're driving from Windsor Hills, when you get to the gate, just tell them you're eating at ESPN. The self parking is pretty far, but not too bad.

Here's my take on the ME and bus system. At the end of the day it is still public transportation--Disneyfied, but still mass transit. Depending on when you fly in from NY, Magical Express may be busy. Expect to wait in your first line. It moves pretty quickly. Also the busses make multiple stops. So depending where your resort is, you may be first to be dropped off or last.
From flight arrival to arrival at resort could be an hour or an hour 1/2.

Not a glowing recommendation I know. I actually like using ME alot. It's just so convenient. To me at least, it's worth it.

As far as bus transportation, I realize that sometimes I'll wait 5 minutes and sometimes I'll wait 30-40 minutes. To try to ease lines try not to leave theme parks at closing or after fireworks/parades.

You'll have to ask Wendy about DVC. However, BCV is my favorite resort. Mostly because of it's proximity to Epcot and MGM. As far as theming, you may find more highly themed resorts, but you can't beat the location.

I was actually rooting for the Giants. Happy for Eli.

Kat, thanks for giving the NY perspective. She can probably relate better to what you're saying.

Thanks again.:thumbsup2
