We are going to WDW July 12-19 and have 2 rooms at Pop. We are considered a GGathering because there is 8 of us. Part of us arrive on Sat. and part on Sun. We will be paying for both rooms when we arrive on Sat. If we do not put a cc to use for charging to the room can the person coming in on Sun. go down and do it when they arrive?

We have never arrived on different days so it is a little confusing :confused3

I have used my credit card for my parents rooms - different last names withhout a problem.

The person who is checking in name should be on the reservation though. I am not sure they will check in a person who is not listed on the reservation

I asked a similar question awhile back and was told no. I have a trip planned with a friend. I will be paying the room balance with my Visa. I asked if she would be able to leave her cc # for charging to the room and was told only one cc # per reservation. Not sure if that is true or not.

I took DS24 and DD19 to WDW in December 2005. I paid for a package; room, tickets, dining. They paid their air fare. DS wanted to put his own credit card on his room card but couldn't because my credit card was on file for the package. The room keys, tickets and dining plan are all tied together as a package attached to the room (which was paid for by my credit card).

It can be done. A CM posted how to do it awhile ago. I guess a lot of CMs don't know how to do as it is complicated it but it is possible in the Disney system. You might need a manager. You should be able to search and find the thread.

I'm at a loss here. I just don't understand why so many people think it's such a great perk to be able to charge stuff to your room. Is carrying around an extra card that big a hassle? I just don't get it. Maybe it's just me.

CORRECTION OF COMMON MISCONCEPTION

1) Every room key with charging can be tied to a different credit card.
2) In your case, those arriving later can tie their key to their own credit card.
3) Have them ask for a "SHARE" when they check-in. (Use this specific word.)
4) If CM doesn't know how, ask them to check the Front Desk Manual.

Example:
Mom and daughter in same room. Mom pays for the whole room cost with her credit card. Mom can have her room key tied to the mother's MasterCard for mother's purchases. Daughter can have her room key tied to the daughter's VISA for daughter's purchases.

Process:
. . . mom checks in, with her credit card, just as usual and gets room #1212
. . . daughter checks in and tells Front Desk CM this is a "SHARE" room
. . . daughter must use this exact phrase, as it has special meaning
. . . daughter uses her credit card and gets a virtual room #1212a
. . . mother and daughter purchases now go to individual credit cards
. . . one or both could pay a part of the room bill
. . . the 1st to check-in gets charges for phones or room service (system glitch)
. . . this can be done for as many room keys that have charge privileges

Thanks TheRustyScupper, that's good to know.

I haven't gotten a package since 1996. I get room only, use a credit card to pay the deposit and then give a credit card for room charging when I check in. I've used different credit cards for deposit and room charging, or the same card, and it was never an issue. I have been told we couldn't use 2 cards for room charging for different adults.

I made a room only ressie this month and got asked if I wanted to keep the deposit credit card on file for charging during the stay. First time I ever got asked that. Something new I guess.

I like charging to the room so you only need to carry one card and get a stmt that makes a litte more sense than the credit card stmt :) Some of my friends and relatives hate the idea of charging to the room!
