Can a person on DDP buy a TS meal for someone with them NOT on DDP?

My parents are joining us for a few days of our trip next month and we are on the plan. Since we are on the DDP they are thinking they might want to try it but they get in late on arrival day and leave early on departure day so they are worried about not spending all there credits. Thinking it might not be worth it to them.

Well my single brother is also going to joining us for a few days too. So if my family of 4 is on the plan and my parents are on the plan but my brother is not can my parents use up one of there credits to pay for his meal. I know my mother will want to pay for his meal anyway even just if it is OOP but I thought that if they could use one of their credits to pay for it then that would ease their minds about ordering the plan and having time to use up all the credits.

Their card will say 2 adults so I'm not sure if they could use it for 3 people at one meal. On the other hand it is 2TS credits a day x the 4 nights they will be staying is 8 TS meals and i thought you could use them any way you wanted. This would allow them to pay for his meals both times we have TS's meals planned with him and they would be using a total of 6 TS credits. Leaving them with 2 that they could use for a meal themselves. Sharing meals isn't an option since we are planning on Ohana's and Chef Mickey's.

Please tell me if this makes sense to anyone else! :confused3 I really don't want to tell my parents they can do this and have them order the DDP and get there only to find out they can't do it! Thanks SO MUCH!! :)

Sorry you can't. Some restaurants might let it slide but I was, very politely, told no at Chefs. I asked at my resort and they confirmed that you can't use your credits to treat others.

We did several times; no one questioned it or told us no. I think it's going to depend completely on your server and the particular restaurant at the time. I would not go assuming you can just in case they stop you from doing it (so no one is surprised or disappointed)

I gave you my recent experience but you really need to refer your question to Disney as per DIS policy

oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize there was a policy for DDP questions. I know I have read or at least seen many posts on sharing meals or using child credits on the DDP so I thought that since this wasn't one of those "hot" topics it would be ok to ask about it.

Also I know about calling disney and asking however I have yet to ever get people who understand what I am trying to ask! :confused3 But thanks for everyone's reply I guess I will just tell them not to bother with doing the Dining Plan. :)

Sharing the food you order is definitely permitted. Sharing the Dining Plan with someone not on the Dining Plan is not. If that's essential to the Dining Plan being worth it to you, you're probably correct that they're best-off not bothering with the Dining Plan.
