Can a Canadian TA book a vacation package to Mexico (funjet vacations flying on United Airlines) which originates in BUF?
Thank you

..but you wouldn't be covered by TICO.

The Travel Industry Council of Ontario can only cover Ontario registered sellers of travel. Any package/flight that originates in the US is not an Ontario registered seller of travel.

Therefore, if Funjet goes belly up (like Conquest did) you wouldn't be protected by the fact that you booked through a TA and therefore, wouldn't get your money back.

Always look for the TICO sign. ;)

However, if you pay by credit card (and the funds are deposited directly with the airline), your credit card company will give you a refund (regardless of whether you used a travel agent).

There are limitations to that. Check that with your individual CC prior to be sure.
But yes, you should be booking with a TICO registered agency of you are here in Ontario IMO..

There sure are limitations, as some credit card companies only cover the card holder in such situations.
