Just decided on another trip March 26-Apr 2. My 4 yr old and I will be staying at POR and Daddy is staying home. I dont mind the walk to the main pool area from Parterre Place as long as it is not 20 minutes. Anyone that has stayed in this bldg. is it nice, run down at all, REALLY far away from the pool, etc.? Also we are renting a car so the bus stop proximity is not an issue for us.
Also will my 4 yr old be able to use the slides at both pools or is she too small? Thanks a million.

First off, you are not guaranteed a particular room or building. You can request Parterre Place, but end up in Alligator Bayou. As far as the walk, it's maybe 3-5 minutes.

Your child should be able to go down the slide as long as they can swim.

A tip about the car, yes, it's convenient to drive to AKL and even MGM at times, but the bus to the MK is by far the fastest and easiest way to go.

we stayed at POR when my dd was 4 1/2, she loved the pool. She could swim a little bit, mostly float on her back at that time...there was always a bunch of parents stationed at the bottom of the slide to catch their kids as it is too deep to touch at the bottom of the slide.

Hope you enjoy yourself, and I agree with ducklite about the car, the bus service from POR was so convinient that I wouldn't want to bother driving myself.

I'm anxious to leave upstate NY we just got another 23" of snow this week...that puts us over 10 feet for the season!!!

I noticed lots of kids that age doing the slides. I don't think you'll have to worry. And princess lovers mom is right, there are always parents at the bottom of the slide waiting for their little ones.

I'm not sure but I thought they had life jackets for the kids. Maybe that's just at the water parks.

Anyway, We always drive even when we stay on site. With the strollers and diaper bags, snack bags, camera bags, and whatever souvenirs we chose not to have sent back to the resort, it was always such a pain to have to collapse the stroller, pack up all the bags and stuff to get onto the bus.

We found it much easier to take our time and put everything right into our car.

my then 4 yr old last june swam at POR-FQ and he couldn't swim but used a life jacket provided there and went down the slide they do go under a bit but pop right up , i would prepare them for that.
We stayed at the parterre place and we didn't walk think we drove over. but i loved the place.

My then 5yrdd handled the slide at POFQ with no problems.. she could swim a little on her own and we brought her life jacket from home, though I think disney has them for your use. we drive our own car when we go to disney, but, as anne said earlier, the one park you don't want to drive to is the MK. much easier to take the disney buses to MK.

We had our 4.8 yr old on the slide, and she liked it a lot. She didn't like the splash of water at the end, but if I rode with her and kept her from sinking, she was fine.

As for Parterre, we stayed there 3 years ago. It was nice, not run down, but our room was on the far side of the building (facing POFQ). That was a bit of a walk, but in the range of 5 minutes, not 20. We stayed another time at Acadian House, which we loved and found more convenient.
