Will be traveling w/12 and 9 yr olds. My 12 yr old DD is very shy and will probably stay w/her younger brother most of the time, but, if she wants to check out the Edge alone can she? Or, do they make you stick to only one club the whole time? Going to be on the Dream.... Anyone have personal experience?

yes, she will be able to go to the Edge and the Club/Lab. Our children are exactly the same age and our 12 yo DD was able to float amongst the clubs. DD is very shy as well. We have done two cruises in the last 6 months. On the first cruise, she preferred the Edge. On the second cruise, she didn't meet any others that she clicked with so she went to the club/lab with her sister.

Our twelve year old wanted to participate in certain Marvel activities (we were on the Magic) in the Club/Lab with his sisters. So we pre-registered him before the cruise. Then on board, he would choose which club he wanted to go to based on activities available. He loved having the freedom to choose.

I'm wondering this as well. We are cruising March 2017, my youngest DD will be turning 11 the week AFTER the cruise (we're celebrating her b-day), my other DD will be 12, almost 13. They will want to be together, and would probably be fine in the club/lab, since they had a blast on our last cruise (2014), but if they wanted to check out Edge, would they be able to together? Can they come and go from Edge? I'm a little leary of them being able to roam around the ship on their own, especially since they are usually in the kids club at night.

I do not believe that your youngest will be able to go to the Edge since she will not be 11 at the time for the cruise. The Edge automatically has check in/check out privileges. We were also leary of letting two girls have check in/check to privileges but we laid down very strict rules about coming and going and where/when they could leave the Club/Lab/Edge. We had the usual talk about safety, etc. Our oldest had an iPod touch and was able to text us via the DCL app to let us know when she left the Edge and where she was going. Both of our girls were very good about this. We had no problems but one of us usually popped into the Club/Lab/Edge to check in periodically.
