Camps and Childcare options

When we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge a few years ago, there was a daycamp/childcare place where you could drop your kids off for a day and do grown up stuff without them. Is there anything like that at the FW Campground? What about babysitting? We learned of a baby sitting service where the sitter would come to your room and look after the kids (we used once to have a night out at Pleasure Island). Are there services that will do the same at FW Campground?

i know there are a few babysitting services that will come to your WDW resort room, but i don't know if they would come to your travel trailer. i will see if i can find some info on them and edit it in.

you could always use one of the babysitting/kids clubs at one of the resorts. you can use them even if you are not staying at that particular resort. when our son was younger he stayed at the one at WL once and also at the Neverland club at the Poly. (he liked that one better)

We have two kids that are still pretty young and they go to bed rather early. I've often wondered myself if they would babysit at my camper!?! It would be the easiest job they ever had...mine go to bed so early and there is a cooler and fridge full of beer! (any takers?)

AhHa, my 2009 Unofficial Guide to WDW just arrived in the mail. Lots of good information on clubs and babysitting rates, but nothing on whether the sitters will come to your RV. The rates are higher than previous posts:

Baby sitting runs about $20/hour for three kids + transportation and tip.
Neverland is $11/hour/child

Kid camps run from 4:30 to midnight, so I guess Mom and Dad will have to stick with evening playtimes, if babysitting is out for RVs.

Yeah, I knew that. But even Epcot is more fun without kids, IMHO. Interestingly, when we used the Fairy Godmothers last time, we went for a night out at PI. We made the mistake of spending the day at a theme park with the kids before we did that, and were so tired that we only had a drink and some appetizers at Wolfgang Pucks before turning in for the night - we were home by 8pm. We arranged for a second night out (boy, that gets expensive!) and made sure that the daytime activities were just hanging around by the pool. We had a much better night that time .

I think the OP was wanting to have an adult evening out.

We used the Neverland Club at the Poly once back when we only had one dd. She LOVED it!! That place does look really cool. When you walk into the entrance, they walk through Wendy's window and into Neverland. They serve them a meal, have tons of arts and crafts, costumes to play dress up, Disney movies, games etc etc. Neverland Club was broke up into sections for each activity and CM's helped them with the crafts etc. My daughter was almost 5 at the time and begged us to go back!

I thought about using a baby sitting service at the camper because we now have two younger dd's (dd2, dd3). They are on a really good routine (usually in bed by 8pm), and after a few days at WDW they are begging to go to bed around 7:30pm Usually either myself or dh will take our dd9 out to an EMH one evening while the littles go to bed in their bunks. Of course they are ready to GO in the morning!

Pretty much for the same reason we would use a babysitter at home.

Our kids are 6, 8, and 10 now (they were 2, 4, and 6 the last time we went to WDW). There is a lot to do at WDW for adults. It was one of our favorite vacation spots long before we had kids. Don't get me wrong, there isn't really anything that they like and we don't like. But, unfortunately, the opposite is not true - there are plenty of things that we like and they find boring (most things at Epcot, for example).

Our youngest was too young for the kid clubs last time, so babysitting was our only option. This time we have a choice. Babysitting is cheaper with three kids, but I think they would love a place like Neverland, so we'll probably try that at least one night.

Oh, okay. We don't usually go anywhere without our children(no matter their age) especially anywhere in Disney. We also do not go to clubs or drink so therefore would not be doing anything they could not be involved in. When we go on vacation we go as a family and I could not imagine leaving my kids with complete strangers for an hour let alone all day! Being a stay at home mom(and VERY thankful! ) I have raised my own kids and they have never had to go to day-care...THANK GOD, so they would freak at the thought! If we need a babysitter at home it is usually for a special occasion like anniversary or just needing a date night(every 6 months or so!?!? ) and we are lucky to have family for this. I do wish we got more of these, but the kids will be grown and gone before I know it! If we do go on a vacation to Disney without our kids it will be when they are grown. I couldn't imagine being at Disney without my kids!!!

I have to admit that we did go to Disney once w/o the girls. We went down for 3 days for our 10 year anniversary. It *was* difficult to be w/o them and I did feel a bit guilty....but we did have a great time. We went to F&W Fest at Epcot. We went to wine seminars and cooking demo's. It was a lot of fun...but probably wouldn't have been fun for our young girls. The only one old enough to understand where we were going was our oldest dd. I'm proud of her, she thought it was romantic for mommy and daddy to get away together.

Like you Flame, we don't go out or get away very much. We dont have family in the area for help either. Date night...whats that? haha Luckily our kids are on a good routine and go to bed early. We have our evenings together where the tv isn't on Disney channel and conversations are not centered around "going potty" etc.

Just wanted to add that I think you can use the "Clubs" at the deluxe resorts even if you are not staying there.

Maybe the Fairy Godmothers coming your RV would work out better for you. But, I thought you should know that I think this is an option.

Someone will tell us soon if I'm incorrect.

And, we are going to Disney October 5th and Ma & Pa and the DDs are joining us on the 9th. This is the poor man's way of getting time at Disney without the kids.

I spend most of my time with them but I need some time to myself to recharge and appreciate the kids again if you know what I mean. Of course my kids are 19, 16 and 11.

I have to admit that we did go to Disney once w/o the girls. We went down for 3 days for our 10 year anniversary. It *was* difficult to be w/o them and I did feel a bit guilty....but we did have a great time.

We were guilty of this about 5 years ago. We dropped the kids off at daycare, jumped in the plane and flew down to Gatlinburg for the day for our anniversary. Felt guilty but enjoyed the time together. We got back in the plane, flew the hour and a half back home and picked the kids up from daycare at the regular time, they never knew we were gone...once they found out and were old enough to know what we did we were in time out for a while!


For some reason my wife was very taken by this cloud just out there all by itself I was glad it was the only one, scenery is to pretty to fly IFR all the way down there.

Course the next year we took everyone down and THEY all got rest on the way down.
