Camping with an infant

Hi all
Our first trip as a family to FW was when our daughter was 4.5 - she slept in the camper just fine. (We have a pop up). This summer we're bringing our NEW baby along as well. She'll be about 7 months old. My question for you is what's the best way to have her on the bed but "contained" so she doesn't roll out of the side between the camper side and bed.

When our first daughter was that small and we camped, we just brought her pack n play and put it in place of our table inside but this trip is going to be longer and it will be less convenient to move the table and set the pack n play up/down every morning/night.

Has anyone tried a Kidco peapod or something like it??? Any suggestions would be helpful!

We had a foster child and needed an extra place for him to sleep, along with our other foster and adopted children. My DH cut down a port a crib and we would set it up at night between the stove and the table. A 7 month old would fit fine in that and it would fold up and be put away during the day.

Years ago, one could by a type of "guard-rail" that was essentially a barrier to keep kids from falling out of bed that had folding legs that went under the mattress to hold it in place. I haven't seen one in years, but if you could still find one, it might be an option.

Could you use a regular bed guard rail in the camper?

I suppose it depends on the model and the camper bed, but we hauled one around for the first several years of our daughters' lives and never had a problem.

Its been a while since I've camped with an infant, but when we had one of my younger siblings along as a baby, we would stuff towels in the "cracks" along the sides of the beds. We would also block the way with our laundry bag (with four kids, my parents were creative!!!)

The best and most important thing is to make sure that all of the elastic loops are secure the first night before bedtime. A little one can roll right out of the camper. I speak from experience on that one. Fortunately, it was a slow fall with her "blankies", but was absolutely terrifying, and 11 years later has no fear of a pop-up camper! She's now our "master cranker."

if you call ahead to housekeeping ask to speak with a manager on duty explain to them what you need, they can arrainge to have a playpen dropped off. They are not new but the do come with disnay sheets and they will bring you fresh ones upon your request.

We use a PeaPod- our 10 month old loves it but his older brother didn't when we originally bought it for him. Good customer service too, sent a replacement when I tried to fold it up a little too aggressively.

I would deal with the pack-n-play. Have dealt with it through 2 long trips to WDW and worth it. Sure it's a PITA up/down, but it's safe and sound sleeping for all. If it is new to the kid, you may want to try a few nights at home first so they can get use to it.

When we visit family with my 6.5 month old our daughter sleeps in a laundry basket! She will not be able to do it much longer but I think it will work for a little bit. It depends on how tall she is!

We are able to fit a pack n play in our travel trailer but have to take it down every morning which is a hassle . But I agree with above I have used a large rubbermaid tub in my parents camper with DS when he was about 7 months old.

laundry basket, bathtub, all things my children have slept in. I would prefer the laundry basket over the rubbermaid just because the sides aren't as high.

I also have this thing I take with us camping, it is a little pod thingy that as a little mattress thing in it, and it actually zips up to keep bugs out. I also have taken it to the beach. It is awesome! I haven't seen them in stores recently, but go to a consignment shop, I bet you can find one there!

It is kind of like the peapod, but it is up off the ground.
