Once again we are contemplating camping.....one of these days it will happen.
I was thinking of trying to go when it is a little cooler than the summer months. October seemed to come up. We have a pop up. Would you do a pop up in Oct.? Is it still hurricance season around Columbus day?

Here is the hurricane poem I learned while living on a sailboat in the Caribbean. They teach it to their school kids as a memory aid.

June is too soon.
July is just fine.
Always remember August and September.

That said, I have seen 'canes in Florida in both October and November, it's just not an as frequent event as in August and September.

October is a beautiful time at the Fort. The daily rains of summer are a memory, it's not as hot and humid during the day, and the nights are comfortable. I DEFINITELY would do a popup in October.

And don't worry about the hurricanes. You can't predict them. If one comes up, Disney closes the Fort and moves all guests to on-property hotels. But I wouldn't try to schedule my vacation around it.

Oh but keep your eye on the Weather Channel while you are there. :rolleyes2

The Fort takes EXCELLENT care of its visitors during a hurricane. Unfortunately, I know because I was there ;). Honestly, I felt completely safe, even with a young child and dog. DH back home was more worried than we were!
