I'm looking to get some advise from everyone I was just calling Disney to get some information which normally wasn't an issue they tell me and then I hang up. This time though I'm not sure the guy was really "helping" me or if he was just "selling" me.

We are traveling sometime December 22 - 30 2012, waiting for official school vacation dates to confirm travel plans.

When I called he told me that he was amazed that there was any available slots and "frankly if we don't do something on this phone call, you might just not have anywhere to stay". Yes I know its the most visited time of the year so I went ahead and did my booking but did I make a mistake?

We will be spending 4 days in Disney because we will be visiting family in Florida also. and getting the dining plan, he also stated that I would not find any promotions or specials due to the time of my travel this was the BEST possible deal....

There's a difference between CMs who want to be helpful and assume things and those who have actually been on the job a few years a lived through a few years of holiday bookings.

The main problem with booking Christmas at this point is that a lot of people are out there booking rooms "just in case". Many of those rooms will become available later, but you might have to call a few times if there's a run on the type of room (or camping) you are looking for. I believe FW is known for guests returning every year at the same time, and thus the early booking is recommended (but no need to panic just yet).

I would post your question on the camping board and see what response you get there: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=24

I think you didn't make a mistake. That week is crazy busy and the campground, as well as other resorts, do get booked up. When you finally do get your dates, you can modify your reservation to fit your school calendar. I always think it's better to have a reservation than not.

You did the right thing. Make sure you bring some lights and decorations with you. Don't know if you've seen it but the Fort is the most decorated place in the WORLD at Christmastime. The campers go all out.

Just an FYI, there is a camping board dedicated to Fort Wilderness. They're the "pro's" and can offer lots of good advice. :)

Awesome guys thanks for the tip on the board I hadn't seen that! I definitely feel better to have some conformation that it was a good choice!
