Afternoon!

Can anyone recommend a nice campground in the vacinity of DC (within an hours drive) that accommodates big rigs? We are contemplating a spring trip there next year and would love to know what places you've been to and liked.
Thanks!

I've not been yet, but have heard good things about Cherry Hill. It is close in to DC and is on the Metro bus line.

That IMHO is a great choice for the convenience of Metro and amenities it offers from everything I have read. Never been there or camped there tho.

We stayed at Cherry Hill in March. We own a 40 foot motor home. It isn't cheap to stay there but it is in a perfect spot and we enjoyed our stay. We would stay there again. We had a 3 minute drive to the subway station or if you wanted to take a bus, there is a bus stop at the front of the campground. They have a nice web site online.

Stayed there at least 6 times on our way to/from Florida and it is a great place to stay, very friendly folks there and well maintained.

We also stayed at Cherry Hill recently; spending a week there last month. As noted, it's the most convenient campground to DC. The Greenbelt Metro station is literally just a few minutes drive, and there are grocery stores and restaurants close by, as well as a Costco and an Ikea. The only thing is, be sure to be clear when you make your reservations whether you want to be close to the pool, and that you want to be away from the highway as much as possible. It's a big campground; not Fort big but pretty big. You may want to see if you can request a site in the front section near the office. We were in the back, and you could hear the highway constantly. The campground sits next to the intersection of the Beltway (I-495) and I-95. There is just a tad bit of traffic!

Wow - thanks for the tip on Cherry Hill! We were hoping to be within an hours drive and this place has transportation! Awesome. Thanks again!!

We just spent 3 nights at Cherry Hill over Police Week weekend (4/15). I thought it was a very nice park and the people were very helpful and nice. If you are bringing a car I would suggest driving to the train station and paying to park there rather that waiting for the bus. We missed it on a Saturday by 5 mins. Waited over an hour for the next one... I had to go when I got on the train in DC...My eyeballs were floating by the time the bus got there!! I ran to the MH when we got back!! :lmao:

I WILL stay there again!
