There are so many awesome photos posted in POTD and in the trip reports, just wondering what kind of camera you use? Mine broke today so I am in the market for a new one.... TIA!

I have a Canon PowerShot A710 IS. It has 6X optical and is still small enough but not too small. It takes 2 AA batteries-rechargable or regular.

Spend some time looking around. There are soo many out there. You should buy the one that is right for your needs. Make sure you get enough memory cards. I have 3G and that was not enough for 5 days!

Hey squirrel, I just recently purchased the A720IS, which I like very much. :-)

To the original poster...you might try going to www.dpreview.com - they have tons of reviews and information on hundreds of digital cameras. If you have some idea of what you want, you can plug your requirements into their Buying Guide->Features Search - though be aware you have to narrow your requirements a LOT, otherwise it comes up with way too many selections. I think you can't go wrong with a Canon camera, and they have a number of different product lines depending on what features you want, what size camera you want, etc. I LOVE their SD series, which is an ultra compact, fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand point-and-shoot camera, but I wanted a little more manual control this time, so I went with the A720 instead.

I now use a canon 40D, prior to that I was using an XT. If you go to the photo board section here, and tell them a few things you'll get some good suggestions

1. budget
2. what your currently using
3. What you liked and disliked about your current camera
4. Are you looking for strictly auto mode
5. Are you willing to learn about Apeture, Shutter Speed, and ISO
6. Are you willing to change lenses
5. Do you need it to fit in your pocket

With the answer to those you should be able to get some pretty good recomendations.

great pictures. Switching the lenses out and stuff is just too technical for me and I wanted somthing I could just take out of my back pack and click so I just got a Fuji S700. I like it so far.

Just replied to your question in the POTD thread but here it is again. I use the Nikon D80. As Master Mason said, you can get some really good ideas and tips over in the Photography Board.

I have an Olympus and love it! Actually just got a new one as well - another Olympus. I also love that I have the ability to do sound videos with it as well. I got my MIL one for her birthday this year as well. I spent right around $200.

We just bought a Canon SD870IS. It is a compact camera and is wonderful! It has small with a 3" LCD screen and has image stabilization to eliminate blurry photos due to camera shake. My sister has the SD850IS and loves it too (it has a smaller LCD screen but got equally great reviews).

The Canon A Series is larger than the SD series. Don't know what you are looking for but good luck!

Thank you for the recommendations! I didn't know there was a photography board! I pretty much stick w/ this one and the DL Trip Reports.... :) I will check over there and the website posted, thanks so much!
