We are thinking of purchasing a newer, smaller digital and I'm just wondering if it is worth it to get one of those that take videos as well as pictures? We already have a video camera, but we purchased it in the late 90's, and technology has changed so much and it is bigger than all of the compact ones they have out now...

Which brands are the best for the buck?? Our son is playing baseball now, and I want to be able to take pics/videos of him playing, he has a school concert coming up that I want to video some of, etc.

Thanks for your help!

I would not pay extra for a video function in a digital camera. If you find a good camera that you like and it happens to have a video function, fine but dont make it a deciding factor. Same way I would not buy a Camcorder based on its still picture capability.

Any average camcorder will take better video than that BEST digital cameras video feature.

Digital Camera (or the ones you are talking about) are Digital Still Cameras. While most models can take videos, it's not the best use of your memory media. Buy the best tool for the job - in this case a video camera for videos and a still camera for still pictures. It's harder to carry the two around, but your pictures will be better and your video will be too.
