camera that is MAC compatible?

OK, so the last time my camera died I bought pretty much the last 35mm inexpensive point and shoot that was around...so, now I am needing to replace it and biting the bullet and going digital! I am a very amateur photographer and am looking for something easy to use and MAC compatible. ......getting a new MAC notebook and that will be a learning experience too as I have been on PC forever. Not too electronically savvy here! but I am progressing HELP appreciated...thanks

I do not believe that there are cameras that are not MAC compatible. I personally suggest loading pics through the computer's card reader so you do not waste any battery on the camera. Basically, there is no real need to ever connect your camera to any computer. The files themselves are not in a Windows format or anything.

I am a new Mac user (first Mac purchased in March of this year) and I have had no problems connecting any of my cameras. I have some no-name cheep camcorder that my kids wanted, I have two Sony cameras, and two Canons......

All that to say, all the cameras connect and are read without any special devises or installations.

That is going to be to use their included software, which is not necessary. It is usually virtually worthless to begin with. You can still get the images off the card to a MAC with no problem and likely can connect it to get them if you wanted to do it that way. It would basically show up as a removable drive.

As the other posters said any camera is going to work with your mac. And the mac comes with a very good photography program– iphoto. You are much better off using that then any of the software that might come with the camera. iPhoto is quite good for all but serious amateurs and pros. There are a bunch of video tutorials here:

And many new macs (laptops, imacs) have SD card readers built-in. So you don't even need to purchase a separate reader or use a USB connection to your camera.
