Patty and I went up to Best Buy and Circuit City yesterday to scope out cameras. We are looking for digital cameras that are between $300 to $450. Something a step above the small ones that you can put in your pocket with a higher ZOOm rate.

Patty liked the Sony Cybershot H9, 8.1 Megapixel (MP), 15X Optical Zoom, 3.0 Tilt up LCD, 3200 ISO at full resolution and rechargeable Li-ion battery for $429 at Best Buy.

I liked the Cannon Powershots 5 IS, 8 MP, 12X Optical Zoom, 2.5 LCD, Face Detection Technology $399 at Circuit City.

There was also a Olympus OLM SP560UZ 8 MP, 18X Optical Zoom, Wide Angle, Dual Image stability.

I'm going to do more research on these before buying. Does anyone have any opinions good, bad, indifferent?

I have the Sony H5 and I believe it does have a face detection when you are in portrait mode, I don't think they would have given up that feature for future cameras. I really like the H5 and have had excellent luck with it. When I checked out the H5 I was comparing it to the S3. I liked the feel of the H5 better than the S3, where the manual mode features came in, and where the zoom was located on the H5 vs. the S3. The zoom was much faster on the S3 than the H5.
