For some reason the date got changed to 2008 and my exif(?) data is now wrong on the pictures once I import them to my computer. Is there any way to fix the date on the picture files? I know this really should not be a big issue but it is kinda bugging me.

I had a problem where. Had 3 cameras that we forgot to sync the time. Long story short one camera was an hour off due to daylight savings and another was off by 5 minutes. We needed the images in chronological order. I used a free program that I found online to batch correct the time. I cannot recall the software I used as t was back in 2005. I found something similar on google by searching "batch exif capture" here... http://exif-date-changer.software.informer.com/

I am not endorsing this app and have not personally tried it, but it appears to funtion just the same.

If you have Lightroom then there is a built in function.

Another tool to look at is ExifTool (and the related ExifToolGUI). This tool has a way to batch shift the date/time.
