Dd (almost 10) has asked for a camcorder for Christmas. I had one years ago, but lost it in a fire when she was 1 and never replaced it. It was back in the day of VHS and the really large camcorders! I have been researching them, and they are all so small and cute these days. But they come with a memory card, like my camera. My very silly question-how do you turn these into movies? Do you burn them from your computer? She has asked "Santa" for the camcorder, a tripod, and lots of "tapes." I want to make sure she isn't disappointed.

Also, what do I need to look for? I've seen them for as little as $79. I don't want to spend over $200, the cheaper the better, but I don't a piece of junk either!

HELP!

We bought one three years ago. so our data is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy obsolete. heehehheee

She might enjoy a Flip camcorder. http://www.theflip.com/

I have one, for "fun" stuff, and it's sooo small. Mine is a couple of years old now; it doesn't have a card, just internal memory. It will tape for an hour. I think they will hold 90 minutes now. That's a pretty long time, actually.

It's very easy to use, and it just plugs directly into a USB port, so you can upload to YouTube, or download to your computer. I suppose you could burn a DVD if you wanted after downloading. :)

Thanks to both of you!:goodvibes I'll definitely check out that board-didn't even know it was there.

My dd just records from her camera. She loves it.

We haven't used a our camcorder in years. We do the same thing then put them in the computer.
