I have a basic jvc GRD33 mini dv video camera that I used last Dec at the parks and the parade I took during the day was great, but I tried to tape the parade during MVMCP at night and a lot of it you cannot see unless there were very bright lights on the floats. But the people performing in the parade and anything not lit up brightly-you can't see what they are.

In the "Night Alive" setting it says to use a tripod, which I did not have and was afraid just holding the camera, it would be out of focus, so I did not use it. Also, I was standing back near the Liberty Tree Tavern.

Would I have better luck in a different area where there would be more light-like Main Street, and can you advise a better video. I was also wondering if it is mostly the video camera and I am not going to get much improvement with it.

I am open to getting another video camera that would do better in low light settings without using a tripod--if you know of one that works better for this situation. This one I got very cheaply ($150) as it was a store return item, so I do not have a big investment here. I prefer simpler models, to high tech.

Any advice is appreciated and you can be honest about what I may have done wrong or if it is what I should expect from the camera.

I have a trip coming up in October. :cool1:

Thank you!!
