I have been looking for a HD camcorder for a few months now. ANd have narrowed my search down to this model - Sony HDR-SR5 High Definition HDD Camcorder. Although I am not a big Sony fan it does get good reviews. Has anyone used this one? TIA;)

Cannot comment on that particular model, but for the last three years I have been using the Sony HDR-HC1 1080i High Def camcorder and before that I was using the TRV900E DV camcorder.

Bothy of these have been sensational for their time! The TRV was fantastic SD mini DV tapes and the HDR-HC1 has given me phenominal filming. I currently tape in HD then convert down using Sony Vegas 7 to put onto DVD's but once the format war is over and HD/Blu ray recorders come out, I will have the tapes for straight conversion to HD quality films. The HD tapes onto exactly the same Mini DV tapes as usings an SD camcorder.

You cannot go wrong with the Sony HD camcorders.

Thanks Obi, think I will pop into Jessops next week and have a play with it. It does seem bigger that my current model but I don't mind if I get better results:)
