Hi, everyone! I am sorry I haven't been here recently. I have been so busy working out (in the hopes of assuring that the dress will fit and that I will be able to complete the half-marathon 2 days before our vow renewal and still be on my feet afterwards), and I've been dealing with lots of family commitments, so I haven't had a chance to check in.
Not a whole lot to update, but this is what is going on (Oh, and I promise to post pictures later):
Dessert party invitations - my dear friend Marie (original Maid of Honor) spent last Saturday and Sunday at our house and we worked on lots of stuff. The DP invitation is finalized, but we only did the prototype because I am pretty convinced that as soon as they are printed based on an 8:00 showing of WISHES, WDW will change the time. LOL!. So, I am going to work on cutting the cording and taping the ends to look like shoe laces, for 40 invitations, and then will print the invitations once the time is set for WISHES.
Welcome bag decoration -- I had decided to print our logo on a white heart to put in the middle of the front of the pink shopping bag that our gym sack welcome bags will go in, for delivery to the resorts. This past weekend, I came up with the idea of printing the logo on a label and then using the cricut to cut the hearts out. The only problem was getting the hearts perfectly situated on the sheet so that when it went through the cricut, the logo would be located in the center of a heart. Well, Marie, with her brilliant engineer mind, figured out how to get it set up so that the logo would look nice (and centered) inside the heart. So, they are all printed AND cut! We also decided that that label would be pretty if it were layered over a piece of cardstock. Originally I thought we'd center the heart on the cardstock and not have any other writing except our logo. Then I came up with the idea of cutting a portrait-oriented rectangle of the cardstock, orienting the heart shaped label at the top of the rectangle and having text under it. We thought to put our two "wedding" dates, but Marie called me after her 2 hour drive home to say she'd been thinking and wouldn't it be nice to put "Celebrating our 25th year" or the like. So, now we are trying to come up with something like that. Maybe "Thank you for celebrating our 25th year with us at our Disney Fairy Tale Vow Renewal". So, that is still being brainstormed, but I did find gorgeous cucumber metallic (shimmery pale green) cardstock on clearance at Michael's this week and bought enough for the welcome bags AND for table tents for the DP.
DP centerpieces -- I was really excited when I came up with the idea of doing a vase full of star lollipops as the centerpieces for the DP. We found great small, but tall glass vases at Michael's and weighted them with pink/green/white sea glass. We then cut down the lollipop sticks to differing heights and pushed them down into the sea glass. We found gorgeous shimmery pale green chiffon ribbon that is wire edged in silver, and tied a big green bow around the glass. When we sat the arrangement on a pink tee shirt, it totally "popped" with the green ribbon picking up the green sea glass and the pink napkin picking up the pink sea glass. There are 8 different color star lollipops in each vase, since we are likely having up to 70 guests and up to 10 tables for the DP. Just thinking about how pretty these are makes me smile. I am going to make table tents for each table that will have some line from WISHES. I particularly like the opening line -- "When Stars are born, they possesss a gift or two. ..." Plenty of time to decide what we want and print them later (another item to add to my to-do list). The vases are now stuffed with tissue paper, to maintain the height and arrangement of the lollipops and then wrapped in lots of tissue paper and packed in lots of bubble wrap for their journey to Orlando.
Candy for welcome bags -- I bought big bags of Hersheys Hugs and Kisses (milk chocolate and cherry cordial) and Reese's peanut butter cup minis and small hershey bars. We'll put the labels on and probably pack them back in ziplock bags to be inserted into the plastic hearts in Orlando -- I want the chocolate to go in a carry-on but the plastic hearts would take up too much room.
Last thing -- Jenn's dress came in and we picked it up Sunday. It is gorgeous and the color is absolutely stunning on her. YAY!!
Okay, back soon with pix. Sorry to be so out of touch! HUGS!
