Cam & Howard's Vow Renewal PJ -1/12/09 - WP&WH--p.98: TRIP REPORT BEGINS

Automatically I envisioned the "Create your own wine."

Check this out...I have no idea how much it costs or even if you would be interested...But sounds cool!

This first one looks pretty affordable... You get to make your own label. Pretty cool! They also have a non-alchoholic...

I've now looked into this one a bit more... (BTW, they have Rose colored white zinfindel...) but this is so cool...I think I may get a few bottles for anniversary presents!

Just catching up with your VR goings-on - everything is so fabulous!

I like the signature drink idea - very cool!

Howard, honey - you are going to absolutely die when you see Cam in THE dress!

Wow, Howard, honey, the words to that song are HOT! :faint:

Okay, I need advice. I really dont' want to serve alcohol at our reception. Howard and I don't drink at all and there will be some younger people there (though no small children -- the youngest will be 12) and for an event that is ending by 3 or 4 in the afternoon, I just don't feel the need to make alcohol available. In addition nearly all of our guests won't miss alcohol. However, several people have mentioned that they think we need to do a toast of some sort, so perhaps we should do champagne and sparkling cider just for that OR a mimosa. I'd prefer to do some kind of signature drink. I saw a picture in a bridal magazine a while ago that I cannot locate anywhere now. It was a champagne glass with a pink tinted beverage in it and the top rim was coated in pink sugar crystals. I LOVE, LOVE this idea.

Can anyone suggest the following:
1. What type of drink?
2. Should we call it something? (I had never heard of this concept, but apparently brides & grooms are creating signature drinks and naming them. :confused3 )
3. Has anyone seen a picture of something like this that they can post here?

Hoping you guys can help! :grouphug:

the drink in the champagne glass sounds like a Kir royal. http://www.frenchentree.com/france-normandy-food-drink/images/KirRoyal.jpg

Sabrina -- that drink looks interesting, but the one I saw looked more like pink lemonade with the edges dipped in pink crystal sugar. Hmmmm. .. . :confused3:

Not much new here. I am really excited about the plan for the vase to hold our programs. We now have the irridescent clear and pink beads to put in the bottom of the rectangular vase and I found some wide pink organza ribbon that is wired to make a nice big fluffy bow. I did a "trial" of it this weekend and was really pleased with how high up the programs will sit with the beads in the bottom and how the vase looks from the front with the glass base, then the beads & the bow tied around the middle. So, the vase & the beads will be packed very securely and taken to Florida for my owners locker if I get there in 4 weekends.

Howard also told me that he wants our guests to toss rose petals for our staged exit. I think he loved the pictures from Carrie (lurkyloo)'s wedding, so hot pink rose petals it will be. It also relieves me of any bubbles-stained clothes stress.

I also saw a hairstyle posted on Liz's planning journal that is exactly what I have been looking for. I didn't expect to find a picture this far in advance of my hair and makeup trial, but it's so great to know I can show Ana something that is exactly what I have in mind.

Hmmmmm. .. what else? ... Oh, I remember! Jenn has decided she wants real flowers and no tussy mussy. I had some pix to show her of possible bouquets and she found one that is exactly the size, shape & style she wants. And then I found another picture that is exactly the color scheme she wants. FUN!

Oh, and I LOVED Sabrina's door hangers, so I added that to my to-do list. I may hit the DIS Creative board and ask someone to come up with a graphic that I can use on that. I think I saw one of Mickey & Minnie in front of the castle in their bride & groom wear.

It feels really good to have a lot of this stuff under control. Suddenly, instead of being 13 months out, we are less than 10 months away!

It goes SO fast, doesn't it??? It seems like just yesterday DF & I were at 10 months and now we are at 3! :scared1:

Oh, Liz, you are so sweet! Thank you again, so much, for posting that pic and not minding me copying you! :goodvibes I bought the Celebrity Styles magazine today, the Weddings edition and couldn't find a single style like it. Apparently "the" style right now is something swept over from the side (straight across the top of your head) and then all the curls and volume starting about 1/3-1/2 way back on top. That style really won't work for me. I was so excited to see the one you posted. Thank you again!

I forgot to mention that Howard and I found an anniversary band this past weekend that I really liked. It was 5 stones across with rounds on both ends and in the middle and baguets in between. It was set in 18k gold and was gorgeous. Tonight we found another that we liked that was three large rounds in the middle set up a bit and then channel set on either end were 3 little diamonds. Another really pretty one. So, it looks like we won't have to have a band custom made after all, now that we have seen that there are at least those 2 styles that look pretty against mine. I have to say, though, I am tired of salespeople urging me to consider that I will want to wear the band alone and how it looks alone is more important than how it looks with my diamond. I just can't imagine putting my "engagement" ring in a jewelry box or safe. I LOVE it and want to wear it every day, so the band must look nice WITH it.

I know how you feel, Cam! When DH and I married, we just got matching bands. It was just as important to me to find a ring that went well with our bands. I got a three stone diamond ring on our fifth anniversary that looks great with my band that I treasure :goodvibes

Cam,

Same here! I actually had all three of my rings soldered together so it's all or nothing for me!

I'm glad you are finding rings you like. You're close to checking one more thing off your list!

Kristen

Must be a common issue- we just got bands too and the salesperson did say over and over it looks great by itself! Well- that is nice but i plan on wearing both- I thought it was because I have sapphires in my engagement ring and they didnt carry the brand of ring- so anything to make a sale!
We did find a really good match though! :woohoo:

Hi Cam remember me:yay:

I came across your thread while researching for my own VR and I only read through the first page or two but have to say you had me in tears....

I just want you all to know I have have the amazing opportunity to meet this great lady 3 times due to various WISH events and have met Howard once and I have to say this lady is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, I can't believe you thought someone wouldn't love you, you have just a presence about you that makes people just feel so wonderful about themselves. You are such a sweet person I hope your VR is everything your original wedding was not....full of joy and everything you and Howard want and that you are surrounded by people you love and who love you!!!!!

You have overcome so many obsticles in your life you deserve forever happiness!!!!!

  Kim

You said that beautifully, Kim.....I also know Cam via WISH events and I couldn't agree more. She is truly a very special lady! :flower3:

I can't wait to see more stuff; don't forget to keep me on your mailing list, Cam!

Oh, my goodness. Kim and Jeanne -- You two made me cry. Really, really happy tears, though. It was so sweet of each of you to post such nice things. I am so happy, Kim and Jeanne, if I helped you both to feel welcome and comfortable at the WISH events. That is what our team is all about, though, unequivocal, endless encouragement and support and friendship. You are both so much at the heart of the WISH team and I am so privileged to call you both my friends. :grouphug:

I am so proud of being a WISH team member mostly because off all the wonderful friends I have met through various events that I would have never gotten to meet otherwise, it is a very special team!!!

Cam I wish you nothing but happiness in your life.

Kim

Hey Cam -

My hubby bought me an anniversary ring which we plan on incorporating into the ceremony. I already wear my engagement ring and wedding band on my left hand. I am planning on putting my engagement ring and wedding band in a safe place and having DH put the ring on my left hand for the ceremony and then wearing the new ring on my right hand and my two original rings on my left hand - are you going to wear all three rings on your left hand?

Thank you so much, Kim! I really appreciate the wonderful good WISHes!

Lisa -- I love your idea of how you'll wear your rings.
I haven't figured out yet exactly what to do for our VR day as far as jewelry. For our tenth anniversary we exchanged my engagement ring and a "wrap" toward a band that has 3 rows of stones -- 11 tiny baguettes set across the band as the middle row and a row of tiny rounds on either side of that. It is really beautiful and I wear it on my right hand now because for our 18th anniversary Howard bought me this GORGEOUS "engagement" ring that we designed based on something we saw in 1991:
47b8dc39b3127cceb50c98d7182800000026100Ibt3DRs2cMT

So, now the quest is for a band that will look pretty with that on my left hand. I haven't figured out yet whether I'll move the engagement ring to my right hand for the VR so that Howard can put the band on my left hand during the ceremony. The thing is that I'd want to put the engagement ring right back on my left hand once the band is there, but I won't want my right hand to be bare the rest of the day. I may give my baguette band to a friend to hold for me during the ceremony and give back to me to put on when I switch the engagement ring back. I think I am making this much more complicated than it has to be. :rotfl:

Cam,

Just want you to know that I would be more than willing to wear a diamond ring for you during the ceremony. It would be difficult but in the name of friendship I could make the sacrifice.

;)
