Hi, hoping someone can help me. I am renting points from a DVC member from the US for a stay at BWV next Feb. He has made the reservation and given me a ressie number and a number to call member services to confirm but the number he has given me i not working for me :sad2:

The number I've got is (800) 800 9800. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried putting 001 in front of it but it still doesn't work.

Hi,
That number works for me although there is a recorded message warning that the number is not toll free as it would be if dialled from the USA.

Mick.

:smooth:

To Call DVC free from the UK you first need to dial the AT&T access number which is 0800 890011 then dial 1-800-******** at the prompt !

Member services no longer takes calls from renters. The member has to add everything for you.

I also herad that they are clamping down on the reservations of members renting for profit. If you need more info check out the threads on the US DVC boards.

The issue seem to be about people transferring points from one account to another and the transferred points taking on the life of the recipient account, eg transferring 500 SSR points into someone's small BCV account and those 'becoming' BCV points because Disney's software doesn't seem up to the job of tracking this.

Also some people who rent BIG TIME (multiple reservations of prime time bookings on ebay) and for whom it is clearly a business are, hopefully, having the rug pulled from under them. Some of them buy points cheaply (often distressed), and allegedly 'churn' the points into 'clean' points - again Disney's software is not great.

Disney are now going to enforce the one transfer per year, one way, per account. This should help to deal with the 2 situations above, which many believe are linked.

None of the knowledgeable folk over on the US boards believe this has anything to do with small-time renting of points which is widespread and could not be prevented under Florida law (I believe).

If you do go to read more on the US board, be prepared for a v-e-r-y long sit down :surfweb:
