First off...I have stayed at the WL at least 8-10 times since its original opening in 1994 (we stayed the very first year it was opened and I am still WOWED when I walk into this hotel). I have previously mostly stayed in a courtyard view room. A few times, I had a woods view...but mostly courtyard. We are DVC members, but prefer to use our points in our home resort..SSR.

I'm traveling with my hubby and two teens. If you have teens, you will notice as a parent that when they are not in school...they are in a coma-sleep state like mode until late hours of the morning...whereas my hubby and I are up early and love to sit out on our balcony and enjoy our coffee.

Having laid all that out...I recently booked a 2 night stay for next June for us. I ended up booking the concierge level at WL of which I have never stayed at before. We have stayed at the Poly concierge and it was truly a 10 out of 10. My questions: can we get a courtyard view with a room as far as concierge goes? Also, will our room have one of these hideous solid balconies that we noticed two years ago when we were there? I am quite petite and a solid balcony would not interest me. Is the CL loung offerings nice? We plan on spending quite a bit of time those 2 days at the WL or just going shopping/swimming. Being as we are driving (first time in 5 yrs) from Ohio...we will be pooped for the first day or so so we plan on taking it easy.

What have your experiences been with the concierge level at WL? Were you pleased? Did you feel it was worth the extra money? (or should I just convert back to a courtyard view) For the record, we do not try to make a meal of of a concierge lounge..that is not what its for. We probably would eat our breakfast there...then have an early dinner..around 4pm...then snack some later on if anything catches our eye.

The main reason I mentioned that balcony is we loved sipping our coffee in the mornings or having a glass of wine in the late evening while out on the balcony. Its truly a part of our vacation.

Please note, I'm interested in the positives and the negatives. These boards have really been helpful over the years and I'm so appreciate always.

Courtyard views are a request at CL. All of the balconies, with the exception of some of the deluxe rooms that are on other floors, are the solid wall variety where you have to stand to see out unless you are very tall. I don't like the solid wall balconies either.

I would go back to CY view and have your 1st request....open balcony...

I think all CL rooms have the enclosed balcony....
Have a great trip.

this is such a bummer...I really had hoped that the courtyard views...in CL...had the open balcony. Are all the CL rooms on that same floor? It seems like I had read somewhere that there were some on another floor? I would love to hear any more experiences...thoughts...etc

We stayed there in Dec 2002. We had a courtyard view and upgraded to a conceirge courtyard view for $70 a night more. I do not think it is quite that easy anymore. The balconies are enclosed, but offer you total privacy. We did not spend a great deal of time in the room, but sat out in the main area and admired the lobby because you are on the top floor and it is quite a sight from up there. As far as food goes, you would not have to buy any meals if you were not going to the parks. In the morning there were lots of pastries, cereals, juices, fresh fruit and other stuff to tide you over to lunch. We were never there at lunch time but in the afternoon there were always snacks and then around dinner time they had some really nice appetizers, can't remember wht they were, but we had plenty to eat and then around 8 or 9 in the evening they had all kinds of liquers and wines which really impressed me as I love my Baileys. It seemed that whenever we were in the food area, there was always something there. But again, this was 5 years ago so things might have changed. Have fun. Love The Lodge
