I'm putting together a fancy smanchy wine/food tasting for my future SIL for her bachelorette party. I have 5 different wines that I'm going to pair with foods. The gotcha is that she is a "kinda" vegetarian. On the meat side, she will eat seafood only - so no poultry, meat or pork. No tofu. All other foods (veggies, fruits, grains, etc) are OK.
I've got some ideas floating around, but I'd love some more opinions for food pairings. Here is a list (from light white progressing to red) of what I've got, along with some tasting notes from the wine store:
Dashwood Sauvignon Blanc
Lemon-lime, stone and green pear flavors have very good depth, with lingering grapefruit, green bell pepper and grass notes.
Urban Riesling
The smoky matchstick aromas give way to floral, black currant and slate flavors in this alluring white. The structure emerges on the finish, so give this a little time to integrate.
Vega Sindoa Viura- Chardonnay
Dry, elegant, and bright, with aromas of apples, pears, and vanilla.Tropical fruits on the medium-bodied palate, with notes of pineapple on the crisp finish.
Olivares Rose
This is a mouth-watering rosado, balancing bright acidity with raspberry and strawberry fruit and finishing with a hint of spice. A blend of 70% Monastrell and 30% Syrah gives richness and structure to this fresh, fruity rose.
Finca Luzon Jumilla (Red wine- medium bodied?)
It delivers huge plum & spice notes, with tobacco, herbs, and smoked meat working their way into the game. Remains powerfully fruity and spicy in the mouth, with a long, minty, medicinal finish.
Thanks for any and all input!!
