Ok, so now i gotta ask, what is up with that 5 Hour Energy stuff...? What exactly is it made of that give you the energy??

A lot of B vitamin and some other vitamins. There is some caffiene which I dont drink anything with caffiene so it really works for me. Some people I know that drink caffiene dont get as much out of it. I usually drink it a half hour before I start my walk/run. It just gives me a little boost and I dont seem as tired or sore later. I dont use it everday only on the long walks/runs which I consider over 4 miles. I also dont eat before I train so this helps a little.

Hi Donna,

4) They are strict about about 16 min pace. This starts when last person crosses the start line. Keep pace early so you don't fall behind.

So am I correct in thinking if I I get up far enough up in the walkers corral and I keep ahead of the back of the pack I should be able to finish without getting swept?

OK. Iceberg's answer to Stacy got me thinking about something else.

Many of us are doing the pasta meal at POR the night before the race...

1. Since the race begins so early, do most of you NOT eat before the race? If you DO eat, what do you eat?

2. I just found out yesterday, I have Celiac disease. Do you think if I called POR ahead of time, they might have gluten free pasta for me for the pasta meal?

2BoysMom: Bummer on the Celiac. I don't about the pasta dinner, but I know our local health food store orders special stuff for some friends of mine. One of my friends has actally called the number on the Kraft Mac and Cheese box and got a list of Kraft producets, etc. for her and her grandson that they can eat. I know in the beginning it seems like a lot, but you'll get the hang of it. Plus, they're in such good shape cause they can't eat all the crap that the rest of us eat ! ;) :goodvibes As for the eating issue I'm eating a bagel for breakfast like I normally do and then I'm taking a bar and some gummies in a *gasp* fanny pack. I know thought I would ever wear one of those. Look out for Sharkies gummies. They were at my grocery store and at my running store. They are gluten free I noticed on the wraper, and bonus, tasted pretty good.

My only concern is I'm not going to be able to get enough caffine and I'm going to fall asleep on teh course! :rotfl:

STACY: In MTM it should only be four miles today. That's easy! You've gotten a week ahead somehow I think! We're keeping the faith and the pixie dust down here for ya! pixiedust:

Stacy this has truly been a difficult few weeks for you, so pleased husband's results came back as nothing major but sorry your little one was poorly. You def did the right thing tho. Giant :crowded: squishy cuddle for you- they're my personal favourite!!!!

Wow i'm learning a lot on this thread.

Donna i like to visualize things too, nearer the time i'd really like someone to tell me exactly where the inclines will be so i know what i'll be hitting and when! Can dream all about it then!

Managed 7.5 TM miles today, 70 mins- orthotics seem to be helping except i'm getting burning in the ball of my feet. Anyone else use orthotics? Need to head outside soon tho i know. Also had to make a new training plan as starting from scratch for marathon on 20th april so no tapering for me :sad1:

Hey have i missed anything regarding the headbands? Are we just ordering individually now?

Hey Ladies!

So, I am officially joining back in with this thread since I will definitely be able to do the race!! (I was unsure for awhile with me being out of a job and all, but we are going to be able to swing it!) :cool1: :cheer2:

Made ressies at CBR this morning. MIL will be with us and she is helping us pay for it!

I am going to register today, but had a question. Should I assume that the race shirts will be a ladies cut/size (like the minnie 15K), or the more unisex fit like the January race shirts?

I will catch up with everyone later!!

Amy

Wendi: If you start towards the front of the corral and maintain a 16 min pace you will be fine. Don't expect just staying ahead of the last people will be good enough. They might be too slow and give you a false sense of security.

Amy: The shirts are womens sized(not uni sex) like Minnie.

Ok I did 5.25 miles in 80 minutes. I was disappointed in myself for not getting in the 7 miles today but when I heard some of you only having to do 4 I went back and somehow I am a week ahead as well. :cheer2: So instead of needing to do a 7m I only needed to do a 4m. :cheer2: That makes me feel better. And I am ok with my time which averages to 15.23 so not as bad as I thought it would be.

If they are the same as Minnie def get the next size up- i had ordered a medium and it fit..... if i wanted to wear a wetsuit fit shirt :) Ended up going with extra large from the expo left overs! Think L would have been ok tho.

I can't say how the Runner's Retreat went this year but will drop a note to someone who visited it this year. I didn't care for it the 1st year they offered it and thought this year's sounded better but preferred sitting with the group instead of paying for the retreat.

"1) I am actually not staying at a host resort (WL instead). Will the cabs get me in as close as the buses would have? Are we talking about the Epcot parking lot?"

The buses are still a bit of a walk but it's all good :thumbsup2 They don't drop you at the entrance. So I can't imagine a taxi would be any farther. I'd check with the hotel and getting a taxi. Though I know someone on the group had used taxi's for the Minnie in the past but sadly I don't recall WHO did. But it's doable.

"5) What is a timing mat? Will I know it when I see it?"

Big dirty looking dull red mats LOL Ok so my description leaves a lot to be desired but how about a picture? it's the red things in the photo. The 1st one starts the chip and the 2nd registers your chip number and sends off the alert of where you are and when you crossed it. :thumbsup2 They haven't added the Runner Alert links yet for the Princess but it's these that will tell your family/friends at home where you are on the course..

FOOD?!?!?!?! Yes please! Everyone is different and it will take experimenting on your part to see what works for you. I am still getting it down for myself :upsidedow My typical food for the morning is water, my Special K breakfast bar of all things, I train with it so eat it. A banana!!!! Me lubs bananas. And i bring along a Clif Bar as a back up.

Seems most like a bagel with peanut butter. But for me my stomach on race morning can't handle even the SMELL of the peanut butter. Each race is different. DL I munched my bar and banana before going to the corrals. This Jan I jumped out of bed at 2:30 (or was that 2?) and at my Special K and had no problems. By I think 4 or 4:30 I was getting more nervous and couldn't munch on anything. Now Susan who is a morning person and can eat no problem, had a horrible time this past race. You just don't know. So eat what you know. In the area before you move to the corrals they have porta johns and enough garbage boxes to toss food packaging. They had tables with cups of water too.

The lady with the special PASTA request... no answer but I'd suggest calling the hotel and asking to speak with someone at the counter service about special meals. It's at Port Orleans Riverside right? Boatrights the sit down is there too, not sure if the counter service doesn't work if the Boatrights can handle special requests easier and you can get it to go when you explain you are meeting with a group in the counter area. Give a call. Worst they can say is no. The best is you will know in advance and one less worry. Good luck!!!!

16 min mile pace.... hopefully they will use the flag system again. I have heard pretty good things about it. :thumbsup2 But here is hoping NO ONE SEES THE FLAGS!!! POSITIVE THOUGHTS ONLY!!!!!!! Keep putting those feet one in front of the other. Stay positive! And remember the most important thing... YOUR RUNNING AT DISNEY WORLD HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?!?!? :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Happy training!!! Stay healthy!!!!

For the burning on your feet try double layered socks Nike has a great set and i have another pair but i don't know who makes them. I only run in them because of the burning. I also put them under my knee highs if I'm going to do a lot of walking in dress shoes(shopping in Chicago) As for your orthotics you may need a different top cover. The one you have might make your sock slide to much or not enough. Try changing your socks first.

I love my Thorlo and Smartwool socks. Nice cushion and wick like crazy! :thumbsup2

OK, so apparently I missed the course change on this race while I was focusing on the Donald. They changed the course to pretty much the same thing as the January 1/2??? :confused3 and I was mistaken about the cost too, I thought it was under 100 dollars. I may just end up volunteering...Will need to think about this a little more.

I am doing a local half the week before that only costs 50 dollars and you get a tech shirt, pirate medal and awesome post race food..

MM: Could you tell me the e-mail or weblink you got this info from? Thanks!
Also, could you explain what that is in your Avatar pic? I've been staring at it for the longest time, and cannot figure out what it is...?:confused3

Ok, last bus may leave at 4am?!!! Seriously -- last bus is THAT early?!! Race starts at 6am right?! what the heck do you do for 2 hours?? Seems like way too early! Meaning we will / should be getting UP at like 2-3 a.m.?! Holy cow..... What the heck did i get into?! My body/mind is NOT fond of getting up and eating at that hour!! I thought we would be fine to arrive at race course at about 5a.m. -- ugh.
Ok, so when you see a blonde chick passed out on the hammocks at the Poly with a drink in her hand -- just LEAVE ME ALONE. ;) Cuz there is no way i am gonna make it til midnight at the party if i don't sleep after!! LOL

I guess for eating, i am planning on a banana (i also love bananas before i run), and probabaly a Zone p.b. bar. Oh, and definately havin' coffee too.. there is NO WAY i can function without (let alone run) without it.

Question -- for those that drink alot - (meaning WATER people!!! LOL ;) or sportsdrinks) during the race, what do you use to carry it? I am a sipper - i love to sip on either water or a sports drink the whole race, and i don't want to rely on just the water stops.. but am not sure what i want to use to carry the drink in... without weighing me down too much.

Lauren, maybe it was 4 mi. and i got ahead.. well, that's good, since i didn't get it in today either.. LOL Oh well, tomorrow is a new week - i had 2 Sangria's today instead and bday cake. LMAO.

Oh, and can someone explain the "flag method" for the pace?

Yes, Stacy they get to the race that early. I think it is a little early, but with so many people....Yes, take your banana to the start, then you will have something to do while you wait. I like bananas too before I run. As for water/sports drink, look at the course map and you will see where they have water stops.

I just got back from 4 night at WDW. I did two outside run at Caribbean Beach Resort about an hour each. I also did MK for 9 hours on my own. It was a blast. And I walked the nine hole golf course so I got my training in. Today was my off day, good thing as I spent 9 hours in the car driving/riding home.
