With the taper going on I decided I should pack. So, I am ready to go..except for the broken latch on my suitcase. DH is supposed to fix that when he gets home from India. He is due late Wednesday and I leave early Friday...

Still debating between tights or shorts... With the weather posted here, I can still go either way--but I'm leaning towards shorts.

Take both, decide once there.

Where are the final instructions for the 5k?

Just saw it on the Disney sports web site, if it was emailed out I did not get it.

I got through the shin splints, now I have metatarsal problems!! Yesterday, was at the rec center to do 9 miles on the track. Everything was great, no pain in my shins finishing up five miles. All of a sudden the bottoms of both feet started burning and being painful. I saw a podiatrist today. Some inflammation of my bones. Said that as we aged (he is half my age!!), the fat pads on the bottom of our feet get thinner. (It is the only fat pad on my body that has gotten thinner!) So, there is less cushioning for all these thousands of steps that I have taken. Course of action, ice and stretching! Seems I've been doing that a lot lately. Possibly a steroid, right before the race. Most importantly, metatarsal supports for inside my shoes. I told him the race was coming up soon and I needed a miracle. He thinks the supports might be the miracle I need. I'm hoping the supports and lots of prayers might equal that miracle.

DD has a head cold, but should be over it by the race. She hasn't been able to train for this race hardly at all. Her marathon training should get her through this race. The way the two of us are going, we'll be the last group right in front of the "sweepers":scared1:

Angie! Ok my memory is really really bad this morning so I can't remember your details. I think you are at CBR? I think you are just trying to get your Mom from the resort to just the finishline?

Figure out about what time you think you will finish. Have your Mom get on a Princess Event bus at CBR with a padded time frame. The bus will drop her off near the Princess finish/family reunion area. Have her look and ask for Race volunteers, keep having them direct her to the finish area. The other thing is to ask at the Expo, maybe Runners Services will be able to point you in the direction to get a good idea of the layout and where she needs to walk to, what she will encounter. I recall DH coming up against a fence in the Marathon for 2008 and it was frustrating because I didn't know where he was or what he was looking at (noise levels in the reunion area can make hearing hard on the phone!).

But if she takes the Princess event bus to the finish area she will at least be in the area and should be able to find her way with some help from people, cast and the lovely :lovestruc volunteers.

Have you signed her up to receive alerts on her cell phone? DO inform her not to worry if she doesn't get alerts though, there have been races where they didn't come in a timely manner. as in people were notified their runner finished 12 hours later LOL

ANGIE! me again LOL

First the disclaimer, I can only go by my January experience in regards to the reunion area. I did the Minnie weekend once and the reunion area was much smaller. So the Princess could be as large an area as January, as small as Minnie or somewhere in between. I am posting this as a general idea, to waylay worries and hopefully give you an idea of how it COULD look.

Yup, back to that site again :rotfl:

In the right BULLENTIN BOARD look for January 2nd, it's the JAN 2009 FINAL instructions. It's a download.

On page 4 is the layout of the january reunion area. it even lists where the buses were located to take us back to the resorts.

I hope this helps and maybe now that i've posted that we are guaranteed they will load our Princess final instructions with IT'S reunion area layout LOL

I remember seeing a someone being very sweet about their family having food on the course? twizzlers? If they wouldn't mind having a few things, and a way for people to spot them if they are in need. It would be appreciated but there is a chance that they will still have all their supplies at the finish. It would be nice in case someone runs into a problem, like gels don't agree on race day or someone can't drink Dasani. Those emergency times. What is greatly appreciated it their just being there, cheering. Spectators don't always realize that their just being there is felt to the bottom of the racers toes, that their cheers lift the spirits to fly. In the Half you don't always have to worry as much on having team mates having extra water or fuel options. Most will be able to carry all they need for the distance. What is difficult is those stretches. So the scream teams are very very much appreciated.

For families it great if they can catch your clothes, your jacket you don't want to pitch. your water belt if it becomes annoying. to hold your sunglasses for you or a cold wet towel.

But please do THANK them for their genoursity and the thoughts are deeply felt. i hope I can spot them on the course. If you know where they will be and what they will be wearing it would help out. then we can wave and let them know we appreciate them being there for us. Big hugs to you and your family and to ALL the families and friends you are ALL are bringing that are cheering on these days. I really mean to include everyone but wanted to make sure that the person who posted a few days back was addressed.

(sorry I'd have to go back again and look for that original post and DH wants to leave for lunch)....
