:cool1: Nine more days and we are outta here!!! I am so excited. This will be our first stay at the Polynesian. I was torn between GF and Poly (haven't stayed at either yet) but I am at full peace with our decision. Anyway I would like to have something sent to our room as a special "welcome treat" for all of us. Maybe a chocolate Mickey or something. We are staying in a garden view (not sure what longhouse) so I am wondering how or if I can arrange this? Also any suggestions about what to do at the Poly, what they offer etc. The kids are 10, 8, 6. Any info would be great!!! :cool1:

The Poly is a great resort. Very pretty and in a superb location. The parks, entertainment, and restaurants will undoubtedly keep you busy, but you should definitely make time to simply relax on the beach at the Poly. I especially liked sitting in a lounge chair at night watching the castle change colors and the monorails circling the lagoon.

You might also want to check out the Tambu Lounge on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House. It's a nice place to unwind with a drink and enjoy the scene from the floor to ceiling windows.

Order each kid a Cool Snacks from the WDW Florist to be delivered to the room.

I was hoping you'd respond. Would I call them direct? Are they located at GF? You don't happen to know what they go for do you? Are they able to have them in our room upon our arrival as well? And since I have you here (hee hee) would you recommend a certain longhouse for us. I think we would like to be close to main building (and a pool if possible). Does Samoa have balconies? And even if we get a room which has not yet been renovated do you think we'll still be pleased. In the past we've stayed at Contemporary 2x's, Beach Club and the Dolphin (not in that order). Thank you so much your Tiki-Highness! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

The Cool Snacks are $30.00 plus delivery. They were a big hit with the kids and the pack is something they get to keep after they are done with the snacks. Calling them is the best thing.

I don’t believe they are located at the GF but I don’t know exactly where they are on property. You can order them to be in the room before you get there but sometimes (because of amount of deliveries) they show up later the same day.

It is tough for me to recommend a longhouse since it is based on personal preference mostly. Even the longhouse that is the farthest is not more than a 5 minute walk and the farther put longhouses are closer to other things. Everyone has a different favorite so telling you my recommendation would just be my opinion. I try to stick to facts because you can’t argue facts (although some try). I could think of something good and bad for every longhouse.

Close to the GCH (lobby) would be Fiji, Niue, and Rarotonga. Niue is all smoking though. The next closest would be Samoa, Aotearoa and Tuvalu. Tahiti, Tokelau and Rapa Nui are farther out but even though Tahiti seems far it is a quicker walk from the end of Tahiti to the pool (walking the beach) than it is from Aotearoa or Tuvalu on the other side of the marina so some people see Tahiti as far and it is not always that far from things if you know the best path to take.

Many people are talking about the new rooms and they are great but are having some bugs to work out. Also the old rooms are not old at all. In fact most of them have had everything replaced in the last year or two. Reports of things being old at the Polynesian might be someone’s opinion but not based on any fact.

Samoa has balconies on the 3rd floor and the 2nd floor has just the sliding glass door to a railing.

You can call me Steve. No need for Tiki-Highness or Tiki anything. The Tikiman name was not even something I came up with. After a while people just called me that and they did not know me by my original screen name so I changed it to what they nicknamed me.

I hope this helps.

Aloha

Steve

Thanks, this was really helpful for me as well, since we're staying at the Poly marathon week. So excited!

My son is going to try the kiddie kone, and I'm going to try the Tonga Toast. We are also trying out Ohanas for the first time. Can't wait to see the fireworks from the beach!!! I completely cannot wait, just imagining it right now

Thank you Steve - very helpful. I'll let you know how it all was when we return.....Aloha... :flower: :flower:
