I am looking for a new car to replace our 1992 Ford Taurus. After years of being a loyal Ford owner, I am finding myself quite intrigued with the Kia Motors line. Looking for a sedan, probably mid-size like a Taurus. Just wondering if anyone on the DIS owns a Kia and what your feedback about it is. TIA for your input!

Is that a good or bad thing (being owned by Hyundai)? As you can tell I haven't ventured out of the Ford family of cars for a long, long time so I don't know much about other companies.

I have not heard anything good about Hyundai from people that I know who have owned them.

Edited to further say I do have a friend whos cousin who does own a Kia Sportage and loves it

I have a Kia Optima. I love it. The people in sales were very friendly and there was no pressure to buy. I've had the car for almost a year and the only problem I've had is a dead battery from my DD leaving the door ajar all weekend. They couldn't have been nicer when I called about it and had it towed to the dealership within the hour. It didn't cost a cent. I'm very happy with Kia.

I have a KIA. Just from personal experience I wouldn't own one again. I haven't had any major issues, I just don't care for the car at all. But that's just a personal preference.

I am sort of attracted to the Amanti... I had the opportunity to drive one as a rental car several weeks ago and liked it. However, before I plunk down some big bucks (and desert the Ford family -- they've been good cars and very dependable), I thought some feedback may be useful. I appreciate the replies so far. It's good food for thought.

I have a Kia Optima and I LOVE my car. I haven't had any problems with it. We have taken it to WDW and the Outerbanks without any issues. I get decent gas mileage (about 25 miles to the gallon). I purchased it as a preowned 2004 with low miles. It came with a 100,000 mile warranty, which I was unable to get on any other preowned here locally. The only thing that I don't car for about it is that there doesn't seem to be much leg room in the back.

I have a Spectra5 and really like it! I have a couple of issues but they have been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. We will probably look at another Kia when we purchase another car, but that will be years away.

we just got the sedona last month. We LOVE our van, I know you said you were looking for the sedan, but wanted to let you know the no pressure sales people .... straight to the bottom pricing .... warranty and safety rating is what sold us. :) Good Luck ... it is hard decision, hope you get what you are looking for :)

LynetteSC, thanks. I'd really like a no or even low pressure car sale experience for once! I like the warranty Kia offers. The Sedona is a good looking car. :scratchin
