Calling all Houstonians...I'm so sad to hear about Six Flags Astroworld!

I've been reading about it being demolished and while some rides are being moved to other parks, I understand that the Texas Cyclone will simply be demolished which shocks me. I know that Astroworld had its troubles but I have some great childhood memories and I really always hoped that someone would fix it up once again.

In in Houston. Yeah it is sad it is gone. However its not the park it once was. They didnt keep it up very well.
As a kid it was my favorite place to go and as a teen I worked there a couple of seasons. My some great friends there.
It would have been nice had the just moved the park to a more rural area. It is indeed sad it will be gone. Guess my family will now have to drive up to Dallas or over to San Antonio if we want to visit a "local" them park.

Dh and I had our first date there. It's sad that it is gone but, I haven't been in about 5 years. There wasn't alot for our kids to ride there.

I guess I am with everyone else here. It was fun to go as a young teenager and use our season pass during the summer vacations, but I haven't been there in years. What is funny, at least DH & I find funny, is everytime my DH and I would tell our families that we were planning another disney vacation, some would say why go all the way to Florida when Astroworld is right here??? It was great to go to as a young girl with my nearest and dearest friends, but IT DOES NOT COMPAIR with DISNEY!!! I guess we are spoiled!!! ;-)

It's very sad that Astroworld is closing. I can still remember the original jingle:

Astroworld, Astroworld
It's a wonderful world for girls and boys

It was open for a long time. I think there was just too much trouble from unsupervised teens and gangs. It had become a dangerous place.
